"Under-rated hotel delivers superbly"
This is the best hotel we've stayed in for the money, we really couldn't fault it and were delighted with our choice. Staff were discreet but helpful and polite. The furnishings were tasteful, stylish and comfortable.

"Great hotel close to Royal Palace"
Excellent service from moment we arrived. Concierge extremely helpful and ensured we had all information we needed for our short stay in Madrid. Room facilities were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Great bathroom with powerful shower and good range of toiletries. Lovely big comfy beds. Decided to have breakfast which was good value and good quality - buffet style with fresh pastries, fruit, cold meats and cheeses, etc, range of fresh breads, toast, scrambled and fried eggs and bacon. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a central location - just five to ten minutes stroll to the Royal Palace, and pick up for city bus tour, metro stations also within 5-10 minutes walk. Definitely recommend this hotel and hope to visit again soon.

"A very nice hotel about 35 km from Barcelona"
The hotel is about 35 km from Barcelona, easily accessible from the city by train. The train ride takes about 35 minutes. The hotel itself is modern and the rooms fairly large and functional. I'm quite sensitive to bed comfort and I slept quite well. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful.

"Good location. Very good stay Madrid!"
Very happy with the quality of this establishment. Easy enough to find. Spacious rooms for the price and extremely well presented. Kitchen facilities good tho the hob took a bit of working out. Didn't use the washing machine but a nice touch it was there. Toilet & shower facilities very acceptable. Would use 'Good stay Madrid' again!

"Hard to find but rooms are nice"
We had trouble finding this hotel because it is located on the second floor of a building, and the sign wasn't very visible from the street. The appliances and decor were all new and modern, and it was pretty spacious. The location was amazing. It was about a five minute walk to Plaza del Sol and about the same to the Royal Palace. Great bars and restuarants were all around, it really felt like it was the in the center of everything. There wasn't daily maid service, which was a downside.

Pocket Guide: Madrid Plaza de Espana - Princesa Independent Hotels

At the western end of the arterial Gran Via, Plaza de España is home to Franco-era architecture like the monstrous red and white Edificio España. The nearby Palacio Real (royal palace) was rebuilt in 1764 and is still used for state functions. It contains some wonderfully ornate rooms and is free on Wednesdays to EU citizens (take your passport). Admire the statues in the lovely Sabatini Gardens afterwards.
