Have stayed at this hotel many times before, it is ideally situated in shopping centre and walking distance to hoe and Barbican. Some of the rooms a little dated but always clean and comfortable with friendly helpful staff.

I booked a short holiday for the 1st May BH to visit some friends in Plymouth. The Guest House looks neat and tidy from the outside and when I came to reception I got a warm welcome from the owner. The room was on the second floor under the roof – nice decoration and cosy feeling. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful – proper coffee.
The Guest House is just a minute from The Hoe and I enjoyed my morning walks along the sea front. City Centre and anything else is in walking distance – as such the GH is really in an ideal location.
I enjoyed my stay and will come back

On arrival staff were friendly and helpful and showed us to our room, informed us times restaurant was open for meals. We had dinner in the Bistro 38 as d the food was excellent and well presented. There was a good choice for breakfast, again the staff were friendly and had time to chat. Will definitely stay again.

"Nice hotel close to Plymouth's many attractions."
Pleasant welcome by staff. Ironing board on request. The bed and the breakfast were excellent. I only stated for one night so my experience on this occasion was limited but I have no complaints except the cleanliness of the ensuite.

Pros: good central city location; short walk to shops and Plymouth Hoe; friendly and helpful staff; excellent breakfast with views across Plymouth Sound and Tamar valley.
Cons: next door to student flats so very noisy ALL night; noise also from seagulls all night; room thermostat resets itself to 17C; bed very bouncy - one moves, you both move!

We enjoyed our stay at this welcoming guesthouse. The staff was very friendly. We had a problem with our shower the first night and the owner attended to us immediately...we were offered a different room and she also offered to help us move our belongings. In addition once we were settled into that room she brought us a bottle of wine. :) We liked that we had the option of choosing what time we would like our breakfast each morning as well as what we would like for breakfast. Portions were generous and food was good...we didn't leave the table hungry. Pleased that they had soy milk available for my daughter who is vegan. Beds were comfy. Location was an easy walk to The Hoe and Barbican. I am glad we chose Rainbow Lodge Guest House and would recommend it to friends if they were to travel to Plymouth!

The principal town of the south west, Plymouth is famous for its maritime legacy. The Hoe, where Drake awaited the Armada, overlooks the magnificent harbour (Sound): home to naval dockyards and warships, accessible on sightseeing cruises. The bustling atmospheric Barbican district by the inner harbour, with its narrow streets of Tudor and Jacobean buildings, is where the Pilgrim Fathers sailed from. Visit the Elizabethan House and the Plymouth Gin Distillery, as well as the National Marine Aquarium - one of England’s finest.
