“Do not get your hopes too high”
We stayed in Split Rock Resort in November 2011. We were there before and were glad we got a good deal at Expedia. What we found out that when you book at Expedia, you are staying in the original building called The Lodge quite far from the Galleria, the main resort building. The Lodge building was in good condition - just renovated - but the swimming pool there was closed (originally, we were told "it will open on Friday". On Friday, they opened the door but did not care to heat the water, and on Saturday, it was closed again for a private canoe'ing event (not sure what this meant). So that much for swimming for us. There is another pool in the main building but it is a long walk (or you have to drive there) and it was overcrowded so do not even think of swimming. My son is 11 and there was not much he could do in the main building swimming pool. There is also a waterpark - $35 per person per day. Entertainment was minimal, and the movie theater was showing an R-rated movie - good choice for a family resort, plus it was the same movie every day. Restaurant in the main building was fine, but service in Bellago in the Lodge was just bad - dirty utensils with pieces of food stuck in them, cold coffee, bad service. We felt completely unwelcome there. A good change was "Piggy's" a mile from the hotel - very nice family restaurant. Since there was almost no family entertainment, we had to explore the area - imagine, they charge $1 each time a car enters the territory.
“Very dissapointed”
The pool at the lodge was locked and no one seemed to know why ! I took several hours for me to get any responce. It seemed no one knew anything at the lodge. They all assumed it was open. Minature golf was no open on a Saturday or any outdoor activities for that matter. Seriouslly on a beautiful Saturday . One of the reasons I booked this place was because of all the activities for the kids. You would think they would have a family or kid friendly moves playiing. No such luck !
“Overpriced disappointment”
Stayed here over the week end for a Karate tournament. Thought we would make a weekend vacation out of it seeing it is billed as a resort. Water Park is small and nothing great for the price. Food is low end buffet and Pricy. They closed the restaurant at the lodge because of snow. Pool was closed at the lodge. Vey run down. Worst place I have ever stayed at and I travel a lot. Hotel very loud. You can hear everything so don’t expect a good night sleep. You would think that with all the amenities they offer in their advertising it would be great. When you get there and it’s run down and not working you would get something back. If you’re interested in the water park try it. I suggest you stay at the Holiday Inn Express. Its Cleaner, has better service and a lot cheaper. If you decide to stay here get out your wallet because everything is extra.
“expedia blunder”
When I first arrived at 5pm I asked to see my room before we checked in and it wasn't even made up yet, it was in there hotel lodge and it was really terrible, I told tem if I had to stay in this hotel , that I would go home first, they finally said they would put me in a timeshare unit, which was much better, but everything else at this resort was very dated, not much of restaurant choice, terrible breakfast buffet, the pool was to crowded I could go on, this is one time you should pay attn to comments.
“No impression at all”
Hotel was very old with old carpet, no elevator for 3 stories resort, old TV, there were not enough towel in the pool( no personnel were there to help me with towel), no breakfast included, parking lot without asphalt- very dirty and far from hotel, just wasting my time and money. Hard to find this place - signs were not clear, we missed resort ask people around, finally found the place. Locke from the door was not opening, call maintenance service, he opened the door - did not check functionality, and it was locked again, called second time, he could not fix it, asked another room. That took me over 40 minutes of my waiting time to get inside of our room - very bad feeling. Very expensive price - does not worse it, not so comfortable. Was snowing and ice, almost felt down twice - nobody clean driveway to parking lot on time. My wife and I were very disappoint.
“Not much included”
Not impressed
“fzsdf”
dirty, dingie pool and surroundings. More like a high volume dump than a resort. Room was not that bad however.
“Disappointed”
The hotel rooms were not ready on time and check in time was really late as it was 4:00 - We did not get in our room until almost 5:00 pm. In addition, they kept moving our rooms - we were originally in the lodge, then switched to another area where the two rooms were not even in the same building. Traveling with children, we needed rooms next to each other. Finally got the rooms straightened next to each other but not in the area we requested and not ready on time. Very disappointed. It was also 4th of July when we stayed and there were no evening activities for the holiday - everything was shut down by 10:00 pm.
“Typical Pocono Resort”
Not fancy....somewhat hokey. Nice for a family
“Dismal, shocking, and Deceitful - that's Split Rock Resort.”
Terrible place.... dark, dingy rooms and hallways, grossly overpriced, difficult to find a parking space for your car, and service is non-existent.
