Worst customer service I've ever experienced!!!!!Posted Nov 25, 2014
The couple who own and run the Martinique were extremely rude and had NO hospitality. They made myself and my friends feel very unwelcome. We had booked a standard room and the owners said because there were 3 of us that we would have to book an extra room?! The room we had was plenty to fit us 3 women. But, the owner said "if we had a problem we could leave and take it up with expedia." (They were willing to just throw us out and keep our money). They made a huge scene even after we repeatedly said we would pay extra but we don't want to be split up. The man said no one can sleep on the couch. We told him the bed is fine we are 3 small women and it is a huge king bed. He continued to treat us like children talking down to us and said "this is not a party place". (Mind you, at this point this man is yelling at us two young women alone in the room.) At that point I felt humiliated that someone would pass judgement on us because we look younger than we appear. Myself and my travel companions are 26 and 31 and are professional nurses. We came to Australia because we love to travel the world not because we want to have some big party. When you go on vacation you should feel welcome and relaxed. I felt the complete opposite and felt like I was walking on egg shells. This man made us feel belittled, judged, unwelcome, uncomfortable and like we were children. Please, there are many other hotels in Port Douglas.... DO NOT STAY HERE. Worst experience I've ever had with a hotel...EVER!

Tropical ParadisePosted Nov 2, 2014
Pros: We loved the tropical decor, balcony, and pool.
Cons: They need a soap dish in the shower.
Location: We enjoyed a great resturant (2 Fish) just two doors down.
It is rare when one walks into a hotel room and breaks into a big smile. It just hit me as a perfect tropical environment. A quick dip in the pool confirmed my first impression. Our hosts and hostess were gracious and helpful.

Magnifique!!!Posted Oct 28, 2014
Fred and Antonia delightful owner/operators. Beautiful garden setting and perfect proximity to everything. We loved the relaxing and tranquil pool area. This was not our first visit to Port Douglas but it was our first time at the Martinique. It certainly won't be our last!!

excellent location close to beach and main shopsPosted May 12, 2014
Pros: The welcome was excellent and as it was our first time to Port Douglas the owners took the time to show us where everything was and marked on a map.
Cons: The room was great and very comfortable, the only very minor thing was no salt & pepper, very minor but saves need to buy if only there for short stay
Location: 50 metres to beach and at the start of the Main Street. Snorkelling trip to reef on Calypso who were fantastic, Mossman Gorge and Daintree Village.
We had a great stay and able to walk to beach and town, no need to use car.

Great little apartment style boutique hotelPosted Apr 12, 2014
Pros: The hosts, Fred and Antonia, were most helpful in assisting me to find tours in and around Port Douglas and to give me advice on restaurants, etc.
Location: The location was on the main road - Macrossan and all the shops and restaurants were within walking distance. The beach was just a minute's walk away
Great location. Located on the main road, Macrossan. Able to walk to all shops and restaurants. One minute walk to the beach. Fred and Antonia were the most helpful, friendly hosts I have ever encountered. Rooms were very quiet and the pool area was very lush.

Already booked to go backPosted Apr 1, 2014 on Hotels.com
This apartment hotel is in a great location, 1 block from the beach and on the main street with plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops. The staff was Very friendly and accommodating, almost felt like a bed and breakfast. However, there isn't a restaurant as part of the hotel, but you don't need one since there are plenty of options right down the street.

Lovely 2 night stayPosted Mar 9, 2014
Pros: Atmosphere, location, comfort
Cons: Wifi was patchy in the room but they were working on it. It was fine in reception and pool area.
Location: Beach, shopping , lovely restaurants , kuranda
I had 2 nights here in January 14. I was on my own and was warmly welcomed by the owners. The room was very comfortable and the location perfect for the beach and wandering into the town in the evening for a meal. The swimming pool area was very nice with sunbeds and shade. Highly recommended!

Martinique on Macrossan in Port Douglas is a real find! Newly renovated and the best location ever right on the main street! Wonderful couple own the hotel and take real pride in its European vibe and getting to know (and serving!) their guests.
