Cons: The room did not have any block out type window coverings, so was very bright first thing in morning and lights outside at night filled the room.
Location: Great location, close to shops, and the staff will organise anything you want to do.
Beautiful, very quiet and not as big as other resorts which we loved. Staff were wonderful, very helpful. We would definately stay there again. We loved our pool deck room, which meant we didnt have to leave our room to access the pool.

Loved this placePosted Nov 19, 2013
Great location, a 5 minute walk to the beach and the town. Lovely facilities, the staff allowed us to check in early and the room was amazing. We stayed in a pool side studio which I thought would be too small but wasn't at all and pool access was right outside our door! Would definately recommend and return to the shantara.

Excellent Resort!Posted Nov 10, 2013
We really enjoyed the Resort. We got a two bedroom apartment which was spacious and quiet. The rooms were clean and good sized, the place was quiet but within a short walk of the beach and restaurants/shops.

Walking distance to beach and shops.Posted Nov 8, 2013
Pros: Spotlessly clean and quiet no children suitable for couples young or old.
Cons: Cotton bathrobes would be nice also larger beach towels. A sharp knife for fruit and a breadknife.
Location: Probably one of the best positions in Port Douglas unless you like beach views. Beach and main street 5-10 minute walk.
Shantara is a hotel that works. From hotel design to warmth of greeting on arrival. The large white bathtowels and good white china. Two great pools in full sun or shade, spa and small gym along with barbeque facilities and poolside deck chairs all made for relaxation. No restaurant not a problem as a mini bus passes the door for day and night transport to the many Port Douglas restaurants and other places of interest. Shantara will arrange airport transfers so no need for a car.

extremely clean and kept upPosted Oct 29, 2013
Pros: cleanliness, quiet, excellent pools
Location: walking distance to the beach, scuba dived in Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest
Although the studio was small, no cupboards to put our clothes in, it was exceptionally clean and bright. The balcony overlooked the pool and it was private

Pros: Clean, great location, extremely well designed.
Location: Heaps to do in Port Douglas, Barrier Reef Tours, Daintree, just about everything imaginable
Excellent stay. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very well designed and clean. Location is excellent as it was just a short walk to the main strip. Would definitely stay here again.

Great locationPosted Oct 14, 2013
Pros: Quiet and the sun on my personal pool deck. And close to shops and beach.
Cons: The front entrance of the spa.
Location: SHOPPING! The shops are great. DO NOT BUY swimwear before you leave. It's all there... great range from $250 swimwear to $70.. lots of surf shops too.
I stayed at Shantara for a whole week. Studio apartment. Single traveller. I loved it only a 5 min stroll to the sops and beach - and the room was big enough for me, but i regret not getting a room with a kitchen (not a kitchenette). A stove at least would have been handy cause the restaurants/pubs are quite expensive in Port Douglas. I did have a microwave and fridge though for left over takeaway. The Thai shop in Port Douglas has some great fresh food! Also, I got a room with a deck. Highly recommended. I got the afternoon sun which was great too cause i would walk down to the beach in the morning.. spend a few hours there, then come back and lie by the pool with a book in the afternoon. Heaven. There was a gym.. but I didn't realise there was a washing machine right outside my door so i overpacked and the sneakers had to stay in Sydney. The washing machine/dryer was very handy. Esp since my room only got serviced once midweek so i washe the beach towels myself. (Coles brand detergent is $4) I never used the spa there only because it didn't really look like a spa when i walked passed.. but maybe i should have checked it out.. but i went to the one across the road at Peppers.. it was beautiful... but in hindsight i'm sure Shantara would have been just as good for a treatment with your eyes closed. Can't wait to go back! p.s. Peppers looks great (huge pool with sand) esp if you have kids - cause no kids at Shantara. It's directly across the road.

A touch of luxuryPosted Oct 9, 2013
Pros: We didn't realise it was adults only but this made a difference once we visited friends staying in other near-by resorts.
Shantara was well -deserved of the 5 star ratings. Our one bedroom apartment was clean, comfortable and well-appointed.
