“A Natural Luxury Resort”
Thala has everything an eco-travellor could want, great location, wonderful rooms, and wonderful staff. However, if you are looking for artifically manicured lawns, gardens, or pools, this is not the place for you! Everything is left to look natural. It is anything but, since the gardeners "plant" flowers and wildlife near the resort to give you a complete natural feeling experience. However, if things like (harmless) spiders near the pool bother you, then this is not the report for you. If you love nature, detest manicured lawns, and want to be kind to the environment, then this IS the resort for you.
“Beautiful but some service issues”
Beautiful resort, amazing location. Restaurant service slow at times and could be improved. Also, we arrived in the evening after the last seating of the restaurant. They did make an attempt to provide a light snack (cheese and fruit) however we were really hungry and tired from our travel and would have appreciated a greater selection and attempt to accommodate our needs. Overall great experience and would not hesitate to return.
“Wonderful Escape”
The setting is beautiful. The rooms comfortable and peaceful. The food delicious. The staff friendly and helpful.
“Great Lodge”
Thala Lodge is a beautiful lodge consisting of at least 50 seprate elevated cabins in the jungle. The grounds and adjacent beach are terrrific, staff is wonderful. The only drawback for some travelers is that the lodge is somewhat isolated, being about a twenty mile drive from Port Douglas. However, I highly recommend it to all travelers that apreciate the outdoors as much as being in the middle of the action.
“An incredible experience”
Staying at Thala was literally one of the most gorgeous, amazing experiences of my life. Not only was the hospitality incredible and so personal from before check-in, but the restaurant was amazing - the best food in Port Douglas by far - and the eucalyptus view tree house room was so chic and beautifully fitted out. From the view from my balcony, I could see the eucalypt forest, hear the birds and the crashing waves of the beach. In the morning, I did a recreational beach wildlife tour (fabulous) and finished it up with cocktails by the landscaped pool. This is going bush - 5 star.
