Very private, great setting, great service.Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: The service, the setting, the beach and the overall relaxed atmosphere. Very helpful staff
Cons: Meals were good, but felt that Port Douglas offered better value for money in the meal stakes. Top end prices but felt meals not quite reflect this.
Location: Handy enough to Port Douglas and everything that this town has to offer. Heaps to do. Nice peaceful location. Would recommend hiring a car to explore.
Very relaxing stay with all services expected of a top end resort. Staff very helpful and friendly. Great location and a great setting very clean and tidy.

Relaxing stay in an idyllic settingPosted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: The setting, the layout, the staff
Cons: Could be more child friendly e.g. Children's menu at the restaurant, nature walks and star gazing suited to kids Daily room servicing
Location: Only 10km south of Port Douglas. We hired a car and used it to get there. Crocodile zoo, reef tours, Kurranda tours
Thala Beach Lodge is such a special place. We stayed in the bottom of the range accommodation but we absolutely loved the setting: the peace and quiet, the lush greenery, even the steep walk up the hill to the main lodge! The room itself was comfortable and clean enough. They service the rooms only once every 2 days. Although it is possible to request a daily service, I would have preferred it if the default was daily service with an option to reduce it. The staff were absolutely delightful and eager to help and please. I would say it is geared more to adults than children, but our 6 year old son really warmed to it. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes the simple pleasures in life and who appreciates nature.

ParadisePosted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: The gardens, walking paths, beach, hammocks, food, and happy friendly staff.
Cons: not a thing
Location: swim, walk, bird watch, swim some more, relax, visit Port Douglas, the GB Reef, the Daintree
We've just returned from a week long stay at Thala Beach Lodge. We are a family of 4 - with teenage children. This was our most relaxed holiday in years. The staff were friendly and looked after us beautifully. The location is special. A perfect retreat, surrounded by rain forest, with the Coral Sea as your view. Meandering walkways lead to swimming beaches or rain forest walks. Reclining in hammocks under coconut palms watching the waves roll in - perfect!

Beautiful and unusualPosted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: It is a beautiful setting. At night we could hear the ocean and the jungle/bush birds. The lodge has a semi-private beach that was not crowded.
Cons: The price is very high for the average person and the pesticide-like smell was strong.
Location: We SCUBA dived and snorkled on the Great Barrier Reef. We walked the beach and swam in the ocean.
Thala Lodge is a group of 84 individual houses/huts/cabins in a beautiful bush/jungle setting. Each house has running water, a private bath, etc... Positives: It is a beautiful setting. At night we could hear the ocean and the jungle/bush birds. The lodge has a semi-private beach that was not crowded. The water in the ocean was very swimable (we went in late June). It is a 10-15 minute drive to Port Douglas where there are some nice restaurants and boats can take you out to the Reef to snorkle. Negatives: The woman who greeted us was almost preachy about their policies. The restaurant is expensive: Every meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner) was $33 apiece (before liquor). There was a pesticide-like smell in the "house" and especially when we turned the water on that baffled us because Thala Lodge prides itself on being an "Eco Lodge." We are glad we went, but probably would not go back because of how expensive it was.

Stunning Location, Fabulous Staff and AmenitiesPosted Jun 25, 2014
Pros: Cabins give a sense of peace and solitude, while they are 'close' to each other, you feel like you're secluded and private
Location: Visit the private beach for fabulous sunset and sunrise. Its handy to Hartleys Crocs, Cairns Zoo and Wildlife Habitat
This was a return visit for us and it didn't disappoint. From the time we arrived till the time we left we were treated like VIPs (its how they treat all their guests). The cabins are clean and well appointed, beds super comfy, activities free and plentiful. Location is stunning, in house restaurant serves up fabulous food.. couldnt fault a thing there and look forward to our next visit

Secluded on a private beach with exception viewsPosted Mar 21, 2014
Pros: Secluded private beach with scenic views. Thala Lodge was well designed with the resort blending in with the rain forest including the wading pools.
Cons: Prices for food and beverages was fairly pricey
Location: Great secluded location with easy access to Port Douglass for shopping / dining. Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef are also close by.
We arrived late in the evening at the Thala Beach Lodge after initially missing our flight and then missing a turn on a roundabout and ending up 50 km from the resort. Check in went well and we slept for a few hours in our Coral Sea Bungalow before leaving for a rain forest tour in the morning. The view from the room was initially very nice. The next day we notified the resort staff about a non-working outside fan and an issue with an air conditioner. They were very helpful and quickly provided us with a different room once we brought it to their attention The room they moved us to had an even better view very close to the beach. All the resort buildings have an incredibly beautiful wood floors. The resort is nicely decorated and well landscaped with the trails and wading pools blending in to the surroundings. We had an enjoyable evening meal at the Ospreys restaurant. The menu had a nice selection and the food was very good. We received Great service from the resort staff. What a magnificent view !!!
