"Trendy, comfortable and affordable resort"
We really enjoyed our stay at QT. It's a fairly standard resort but with a nice attention to design, detail, cleanliness and staff friendliness. The main pool is lovely, with a good pool bar. The fitness centre is good, and has it's own 25m pool with lanes, and tennis courts. It also had a Moonlight Cinema on the grounds while we were there. It doesn't have beach frontage but it's only a short walk to the beach. We had a room with a small kitchenette that was useful - but otherwise the pool bar food and the breakfast buffet was reasonably good. The buffet wasn't quite as good as QT Gold Coast but still enjoyable. Overall recommend for the very reasonable price.

"Great position on the beach "
It may be a bit old but it's in very good condition and the gardens and space is very peaceful. The pool is well protected from the wind which is important. It also gets full sun all day ideal for this time of year. Cannot fault our 5 day stay. This hotel has a lot of space so it's never crowded.

"Great family apartment walking to everything "
Having been to Pt Douglas a number of times, I think staying in the centre of town is the most convenient and enjoyable if you are not a 'resort person'. We were able to walk down the street to any number of restaurants if we wanted, for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or pick up takeaway/cook in the apartment. The main supermarket is within a couple of minutes by foot. The apartments have a full sized refrigerator (unlike many). The apartment was comfortable, and a minor issue we had with one of the lights was resolved immediately. Carolyn and John (the apartment managers) were very friendly, and having lived in Pt Douglas for a long time, were an invaluable source of information about what to do both in the immediate environs and further afield

"Beautiful natural setting"
I recently stayed at Thala after my trip to Bali was cancelled due to an erupting volcano. So glad I did, it was a wonderful stay. The staff were so helpful and friendly and the cabin in the bush and so close to the beach was lovely. I would have liked to have seen more dining options, with light cafe style lunches available but the food I had was excellent. The Spa is divine!

"Great spot, close to town!"
We enjoyed staying here. The major advantages were easy access to town and to the beach, free parking, free wifi, the kitchen and the washer/drier. I highly recommend preparing your own meals - the restaurants in PD don't really stand out and are very expensive. The kitchen was stocked with all the dishes and utensils needed, including a kettle and some tea (only instant coffee though). The apartment was neat and quiet. The only unpleasant aspect was that the bathroom smelled a little musty, (not surprising given the warm humid climate). It improved once I took down the shower curtain and washed it in the washing machine. Fiona at the front desk helped us book our snorkel tour to the Great Barrier Reef with Calypso, which was worth every penny.

Port Douglas has two primary seasons: the green season and the dry season. The green season often begins in November with the first monsoon and lasts until about May. During the dry season the temperature is generally between 17 and 26 degrees Celsius, and in the green season the temperature can rise to about 33 degrees Celsius. While the green season brings warm water conditions, it also marks the season when sea wasps, called “stingers,” make an appearance in the ocean near the coast. Swimming should only take place within marked enclosures during this time.

Getting around Port Douglas and the surrounding area is made possible by shuttle buses, bicycle rentals, and rental cars. If you make a visit to the Daintree Rainforest, be sure to mind the rules. Do not feed the wildlife, refrain from picking flowers or plants, and stay safe by keeping to the boardwalks.
