Two times the charm

Posted Nov 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was my second time staying at holiday inn over the course of three weeks. The hotel itself is nice and is very secure which makes it attractive to POM visitors. The service was pretty good except that I had to call room service twice to get a response, I couldn't get the front desk at check out time and had to drag my luggage down a flight of stairs (no elevator for the garden area rooms) and stand around the front desk waiting for someone to come out to complete the check out process. The food I had for lunch was quite tastey and I was overjoyed to discover that in the three weeks I was gone, they adopted an internet card with unlimited access rather than pay per me which really made internet use costly the previous time. I stayed in the tower my previous visit. The modern showers were quite nice. This time I stayed on the garden side and the showers left much to be desired. My biggest suggestion is to improve wifi coverage so visitors can use their devices in their rooms and not just in shared spaces.

Decent Stay

Posted Oct 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
Although the hotel is quite expensive, it was reasonable for POM. The accommodations were agreeable. The breakfast is ok, but not amazing. the internet access is my only issue. It is quite expensive. And beyond that, it only works in a couple of locations within in the hotel (and you guessed it, the locations are not your room). Overall, it was still ok.

Like every other motel in POM; over priced and mouldy. At least this one has very helpful staff that actually do things for you and acknowledge you. They must improve the parking - a real nightmare. Food was good though but over priced by Australian Standards.

Good basic business hotel in Port Moresby

Posted May 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
ANZ ATM in lobby is very convenient for busy business travelers. Coffee shop is OK for simple meals. Tower suites are basic and quite spartan, but a good size for work and meetings. Maintenance is adequate.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially those in the restaurant. The food is good quality, although there is very little variation in the breakfast buffet ie., I became a little tired of scrambled (very soft) eggs; altho the breakfast buffet has a good variety. On my hotel booking for special requests, I requested soy milk in my room - & as a Priority Club member I expected some additional benefits. The soy milk was not provided, and the Priority CLub service I've received in the past was non-existent with no special welcome or chocolates as in the past. The hotel seems quite challenged with their air conditioning services: all the garden wing rooms have been closed for some time due to repairs on airconditioning (however they still advertise these rooms on websites altho not available). I had a delux room in the 'Tower' section, and altho the aircon worked, even at 16 degree setting I couldn't sleep with a quilt & at times it was too humid in the room. Overall, a good stay at the hotel.

Renovations and billing problems

Posted Nov 14, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel was undertaking renovations while guests are on the floor below, the water was turned off from 9 am - 2 pm. Noisy. If you book with a travel agent, make sure they don't charge your card again for some or all of the nights. Pleasant and smiling people won't stop me from trying another hotel next time. Please note: It's fairly close to parliament and govt buildings but far away from "down town" where all the businesses are.

Old and Tired and over priced

Posted Jun 17, 2012 on Hotels.com
An old tired hotel that has had little money spent on it. I guess they are putting it all into the new hotel block which must only be a year behind schedule.
