Nothing Fancy, but a beautiful retreat in the woods next to one of our newest National Parks. Roomy and cozy with a nice pizza place next door. A nice outside area and an adequete pool.

Loved the gazebo and firepit, though it was too cold and windy to enjoy it. Loved the proximity to the hiking I was there for. The room was dated in decor, not perfect, but clean and serviceable, comfortable, and more than adequate. If you are a breakfast person, I suggest you go elsewhere, the pickings are pretty lean in that regard. Leroy's "Hot stuff" opens at 7, has tasty offerings and is minutes away.

The whirlpool suite was fantastic! The hotel itself was very quaint and had a nice feel to it. It really lives up to its woodsy retreat moniker. We even saw deer sitting in the forest from our balcony! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a comfy, rustic get-away

This place is beautiful! They have a swing with a fire pit. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. Its quiet and secluded.

There were ants in my room & when I was offered another room there seemed to be confusion about whether there was one available until another desk agent came in & said "they're good".....as in, we could just leave the hotel. It was 1:30 in the morning. Kinda rude, no refund offer, it looks like a cute place but it's just as trashy as other highway hotels I guess.

Went there for new years eve. Stood at front dest using their phone to call for asst. Finally after 10calls i used my personal phone and the two staff members finally came to the front. By this time 4 other families came in behind us. One staff stood there while the other staff checked people in. We had a little dinner and we broke our lid and cleaned it up but asked. For a vacuum to make sure it was completely cleaned up. Lady came upstairs very upset and said wheres the broken glass and what of ours/hotels was broken. We stated downstairs when we asked for vacuum. Then all night we were fighting with our door to close and it wouldnt. We were told all rooms were booked. So finally my husband went downstairs after the 2 ladies left and complained again the gentleman came upstairs and tried to fixes it and offer us a different room at 1:30am. Well we told him we were told there was no other rooms or less we would have taken it. Finally with looking at the door we seen you had to lift the door up for it to lock. Luckily it did cause i have a 3yr who likes to go in and out. We didnt take the room cause all of our stuff was already in the room and kids were asleep. This hotel isnt a kid friendly hotel. The pool was green green. The sauna once again didn't work. My family was going every year for the last 13yrs. This was our last year there cause we will not be returning more so due to rude staff.

This property is not good and clean for kids under 2years, carpet is too bad and so dirty, corner chairs are pathetic, too much dirt. Please make sure this is all taken care ahead of guests arrival. Thanks

I enjoyed this property. I liked the amenities like the pool and the spa tub in my room. Breakfast was included and offered a variety of options. The only downside was the walls between rooms were fairly thin so I could hear entire arguments and conversations in the rooms around me.

I had a great nights sleep. However, some issues: staff listenning to their headphones. In the morning, the desk staff was on the phone for a personal call the whole time, talking loudly on headphones. There were no spare blankets, just a really thin one on each bed. The room smelled strongly of smoke. The guy on night duty was really friendly and went above and beyond to help. The price was good. If they sort out the staff engagement, this would be a really great hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights. Lodge was nice and clean, very cozy feel. Room was nice as well. The only slight negatives is we came in from out of town and arrived a bit early. We were told that check in was strictly at 3pm. Front desk didn't even offer to see if our room was ready when we got there. Also, Sat night there were children staying there and we could hear them running around and being quite loud. It was before quiet hours started so I can understand but I know if they were my children they would have been told no running....they were also up and running quite early as well making it difficult to sleep but again quiet hours were just about over as it was about 7am.

Overall a nice stop for overnight stay. Very close to Indiana Dunes parks. Room was very clean. Bathroom had wallpaper pealing, but that's only negative. Breakfast was okay for a quick bite.

This is an independent hotel with a great setting, lovely public spaces and comfortable, standard rooms. Loved the adjoining rooms and the view of trees. Minutes from the National Park and State Park, as well as downtown Chesterton and the highways. Restaurant (Pizzeria Uno) on the property. Standard free breakfast includes eggs and sausage, make your own waffle, cereal. Good value.

Nice, National Park Lodge type of ambiance. The staff was courteous and helpful. Location was perfect for Indiana Dunes access. Breakfast left a little to be desired though. And the place needs a little updating. But for the price was acceptable. BUT….the noise from nearby trains during the night did not make for restful nights….
