Hotel close to airport

Posted Aug 25, 2014
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. No noise. No breakfast though, and they seemed understaffed for a large running event group that was checking in. I would not recommend it because they didn't have breakfast. They did have cooking facilities in the room, so you could make something yourself if you wanted.

Thank you for your review. We did just go through a management and ownership change which can cause a little confusion for everyone. I am sorry you experienced this we did try to keep confusion to a minimum. Extended stay hotels do provide breakfast items in our Candlewood cupboard store. We do not do a sit down breakfast because every room has a stove, microwave, kitchen size fridge and sitting area for guests privacy and convenience.

I just needed a place close to the airport for one night, and preferably one with a courtesy shuttle. This hotel worked out really well and I found the staff to be very professional and friendly.

Surprisingly great hotel east of airport

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: For the price the amenities in the room and in the hotel were impressive, plus it's super clean.
Cons: Maaaaaybe the commissary room could have a slightly better selection. And sometimes the front desk staff disappears for a bit. But that's nitpicking.
Location: It's east of the airport out of town. CascadeStation does have a lot of restaurants and retail if needed. A MAX train station is nearby.
I came in just expecting a room but got such a great room with tons of amenities that I almost didn't want to go out. The room is pristine and comes with a full kitchenette and dishwasher. The hotel itself also provides free laundry machine use and internet. While it'd be nice to be closer to Downtown Portland, this is easily the best place to stay otherwise. By car it's honestly not that terribly far from the center of town, and they have a big strip mall of mainstream restaurants and stuff (CascadeStation) that are mostly open until midnight in case you need a meal in a pinch. There's also a park and ride MAX station nearby that, while it's a long ride into and out of town (and the train stops running before midnight), at least provides a convenient transit option. But honestly, the room itself was terrific and I absolutely recommend this joint.

Dear Steven, We are thrilled to hear that we exceeded your expectations! As you said, we are not too far from downtown, but we have options to get there. It's great to hear you enjoyed the stay so much, you are always welcome to stay longer and use as many of our amenities as you would like. We hope you stay with us again on your next trip to the Portland area. Take care, Candlewood Suites Portland Airport

Perfect for home cooks

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness. Kitchenette.
Cons: Pillows need to be firmer.
Location: Food places very close by- Shari's across the street, Burger King, McDonalds, Jack in the box down the street, Costco within 2 miles (did some shoppin
The hotel itself was clean, room and bathroom were spacious; large, comfy beds with clean linen, pillows could be more firm. Wifi dropped intermittently, I did not test their ethernet connection though. Kitchenette was adequate, complete set of pans and dishes for 4 were very reasonable, ice maker is in the freezer. 24 hr free coffee and tea. No complimentary breakfast (but this was what they had in their ad).... an honor system on their pantry.... despite the hotel located near the PDX airport, we were not bothered by the noise, no noise disruptions.. Staff were pleasant. There's a 24 hour laundry room and gym.

We appreciate your business and thank you for the review. Our housekeeping department is the best when it comes to ensuring the hotel is spotless. This hotel is an extended stay property which means every room comes equipped with a full working kitchen and all the accessories; we do provide breakfast items in the Candlewood cupboard store for a minimal fee. Our laundry and shuttle (runs 4 am to 11 pm) are completely complimentary. I am sorry you were not able to enjoy our lending library of complimentary movies and our lending locker which houses family games, outside athletic toys, Kureigs, crock pots, toaster ovens etc.

No breakfast

Posted Jun 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
The room was advertised on hotels.com as including breakfast, but there was no breakfast. The room smelled strongly of something that smelled like licorice. I like licorice, but I don't want to live in it.

Dear A verified traveller, I do apologize that we do not serve a complimentary breakfast, it is a brand standard of Candlewood Suites. However, we do have breakfast items in our Candlewood Cupboard for purchase and there are several restaurants nearby that serve breakfast also. I also apologize for the smell in the room, definitely not something pleasant. We hope you do try us again and let us improve your experience. Thank you, Candlewood Suites Portland Airport

Great Location

Posted Jun 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
Conveniently located for the functions we had to attend. Only problem was a noisy neighbor on floor above but the hotel staff took care of it. Hotel staff always friendly and greet you every time you arrive or leave. All in all was very satisfied with out stay and I would stay at a Candlewood again.

Hotel best for business travelers

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Pros: Close to the airport.
Cons: Breakfast, daily maid service
Location: Close to airport. Nothing to do near there. No restaurants, shops. In an industrial area.
This hotel was clean and comfortable and near the airport. There is no breakfast or maid service and limited supplies in the room-i.e. shampoo, etc. It is really a long-term stay hotel. It was fine for our weekend because we were out most of the time. I would call it a utilitarian hotel-few amenities, but the price is reasonable. There is only weekly maid service which we were unaware of when booking.
