Beds are either bottom of the barrel or about 15 years too old. Door didn't quite seal and there were a mess of flies we couldn't get rid of. A/C barely worked.

Five Day Stay for meetings

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: Very good price. Close to bus line. Friendly staff. Room did have microwave and small refrigerator. Rooms cleaned well every day.
Cons: See first comments. Also how about some ceral and milk, some fresh fruit (oranges, bananas, or apples) for breakfast. Maybe even some yogurt or eggs
Location: Not the most desirable part of town. On busy corner in an industrial area, but very convenient city bus into the heart of Portland.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful during whole stay. Rooms could use some updating and a little moreTLC. Examples: Bathroom door doesn't quite close due to warping. Toilet seat was loose, just needs a little tightening with the wrench or pliers. Microwave was missing one leg on the front left side causing it to wobble. Also I was diappointed that PBS was missing from the TV channels. Finally no hangers for the closet bar. All minor inconveniences to be sure, but easily fixable.

Sketchy Stay

Posted Jul 31, 2014
Pros: Nothing.
Location: There were a couple fast food restaurants near by as well as a club for "gentlemen".
We stayed at this property because it was near a university we were visiting with our teen. It was very noisy in the middle of the night due to residents coming home/going to work. The area was industrial by nature of the many, many trucks coming and going. The furniture was stained which led us to wonder about cleanliness in regards to bedding. There appeared to be people living there full time. There was a barbecue and many cans used as ash trays in the common areas.

Hotel advertised as "Expo Center". NOT

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: Towels were large, ice machine worked, refrigerator kept food really cold. Night manager was a tremendous help in several areas.
Cons: Stairs, railing and steps all need redone on the outside. Rooms recarpeted, painted, better quality sheets and bedspead to match the wonderful towel
Location: Industrial area, noisy trucks, busy intersection
Hotel advertised "breakfast". I don't call an English muffin and orange juice "breakfast". Carpet was dirty and bedspreads were dull and tired looking. I bruised my leg on the board sticking out under the bed. No radio or clock. Maid service removed a new box of quart size zip lock baggies which was not hers to take. We could hear the people above and beside us so the walls do not have adequate insulation.

Domestic Violence at Econo lodge

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Cons: cleanliness of room and facilities in general
We were awaken by an arguing couple in the room next door. I called front desk twice and finally 911 because I felt there was a possibility of domestic violence. Night staff was not quick to respond.

The location is just too noisy due to the heavy traffic all day and night. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly.

bad location

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: It's close to bus number 6, which goes downtown.
Cons: Serve the continental breakfast that was promised to the guests.
There is practically nothing for breakfast, just a bun with jam juice or coffee, and there are no chairs or tables to sit on while you eat breakfast.

Adequate Place to Crash

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: Same cost as one of the nicer hostels but without the baggage of staying at a hostel. Really close to anywhere you'd want to go.
Cons: Beds were loud and really stiff, pillows had little support but strangely improved the longer we were there. Wifi was inconsistent. Door hard to open.
Location: Biggest reason to stay is location for the price. If you're going to spend all day in Portland anyway, a fancy room doesn't really matter.
Had a long weekend in Portland, chose to stay here due to price and proximity. We spent all our days at a concert or with friends so the room itself wasn't much of a concern, really just a place to crash, keep our stuff, and bathe. If we were staying there longer some of the (multiple) annoyances would've become bigger problems but for just 3 nights it was fine. Never did the breakfast but on leaving one of our group said it was mostly old muffins and watery OJ. Portland is full of great foodie places though so I wouldn't bother with eating there even if it is free. If you're stretched for time there's a Jack in the Box and a McDonald's right across the road, but the McDonald's had crappy service. It's close to the interstate but road noise wasn't really an issue as long as the window was closed. AC worked fine, can't speak to heater as it was almost July. Not sure when room service happens but it was always done by whatever time we got back. Didn't have anything go missing (we've had problems before at other places). No ironing board in the room which may be an issue depending on the event you're traveling for. The room does have both a mini-fridge (not stocked) and a microwave which some nicer places actually don't have. Business travelers may also need other means for Wifi. The signal they had was open (which may have been half the issue) and was only sometimes available.

Rooms smelled clean, but there was mold. Motel was in a bad part of town. Didn't feel safe.
