a great visit to Portland

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: Room design was one of the best I have experienced. Didn't hear the toilet flushing in the middle of the night or the neighbors.
Cons: Keeping the coffee urns available 24/7. Not having to pay for valet parking.
Location: This hotel was within walking distance of nearly everything we wanted to do.
Absolutely loved the hotel. Very clean and quiet. Breakfast was served until 10:00 - I do like to sleep in . . . The only thing I wished for . . and not even a deal breaker . . . was on Sat. afternoon, I would have liked a cup of coffee and all the coffee urns were put away. I don't really agree with having to pay a valet to park my car, but they were so nice that I almost didn't mind. We love visiting Portland.

Nice hotel in great location

Posted Mar 29, 2014
The hotel room was clean and modern and seemed pretty newly renovated. Loved the all day coffee bar, and having the Sebago Brewing Company restaurant on the first floor was a big plus. The location right in the Old Port was great for walking to all the shops. We thought having a parking lot for hotel customers was a pretty basic amenity, but then we found out that it was valet parking only, not included in our room fee. That seemed kind of cheap.... Another minor negative was that we were looking forward to a warm soak in a hot tub on a cold, blustery day, but there is no hot tub, the pool isn't very warm, and there's no tub in the room, so no warm soak for us! The great location and clean room far outweighs the negatives for us, though!

Comfortable, mid-priced hotel in the Old Port

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: The location
Cons: The free breakfast is not very appealing. But Portland has great places to go out for breakfast.
Location: Great shopping and dining in the Old Port
This hotel met all our needs. We would stay here again for sure. The location is perfect.

Great location, walking distance to everything.

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: The brewery that was attached.
Cons: Pool should be heated.
Location: Fore Street & Commercial Street are walking distance and everything you want to do in Portland is on one of those streets.
Valet employees were the friendliest employees at the hotel. Everyone else seemed moderately annoyed. Pool was freezing cold. Whenever the heat kicked on it sounded like a nuclear war. Breakfast was somewhat of a free for all, with not enough chairs and tables to accommodate.

Nice hotel, convenient to Olde Port area.

Went for an evening of dining and trying Portland craft beer scene. Accommodations were comfortable and very convenient. We were able to walk to all the places we wanted to visit. Sebago Brewing Company located in the hotel building was a great starting place. Full breakfast buffet in the morning was an additional plus after a late night out.

Very clean, comfortable hotel; good breakfast

Hotel is very centrally located ... We were in close proximity to lots of shops and great restaurants and walked daily to dinner. We stayed in a waterfront room. You're not right on the water but do have a water view. The staff, from front desk, to breakfast staff, to valet were all very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very clean....from lobby, to rooms, to fitness center. Fitness room has all the equipment you could need for a great workout. Breakfast offers good variety and is very covenient. We loved the all-day coffee/cocoa bar. We'd definitely stay again!

Pros: The variety for breakfast is much better than other hotels that offer a free breakfast.
Location: There's plenty to do in Portland, ME.
We stayed at the Hampton because it was close to my daughter's college. We've stayed here before and will stay here again.
