“Interior Designer loves the space”

This was a great hip place to stay downtown. Great access to everything near by. Great restaurant and bar. Excellent Happy Hour. The room was terrific but very compact. It was great for me as a designer to see how an older property could be transformed into a very cool place. Great furniture, Art, and accessories. They did a great job on the space. Comfortable and inviting.

“Nice place to stay for a special occation!”

Paid more than we usually would but it was worth every penny. The only disappointment we had was that we were a little farther from downtown Portland, longer walk for our age and physical condition. But we did it! And it took us most of the night to get the room cooled down for sleeping comfort. Everything else far surpassed the little tiny discomfort we experienced. Dinner at the attached restaurant was wonderful, expensive, but delicious. After the walk downtown and back we were too tired to go anywhere else to eat and wanted to relax with drinks so why not stay at the hotel to eat and drink. So glad we did ;) The staff was wonderful, everyone of them from the Valet's who take very good care of your car to the Housekeeping staff who are so friendly as you pass through the halls. Front desk staff are all truly helpful and always smiling. Would recommend the Hotel Modera to anyone who is looking for a really 'nice' place to spend a night or two in Portland.

“Great access to a workout facility”

The location of the room is imperative. The hotel is located on a really busy street and traffic does not stop until late in the evening. If you request a room located on the courtyard side you will not have that problem. If you are into exercising great hotel for logistic of workout facility. It's located one block from a 24 hour fitness center which is really great.

“Gen-Y creature comforts”

I booked this hotel as an alternative to a stay at the Marriott on the waterfront during a conference. It was just a short walk of a few blocks to my meetings, and my room was priced better than the big chain hotel. Even heavy rain was only a minor inconvenience, since the Modera supplies large umbrellas for guests. Unquestionably, however, what makes this stylishly remodeled but still-nondescript facility stand out as first rate is the uniformly excellent staff. From the bellhops to the front desk to the cleaning supervisors, everyone was friendly, quickly responsive, accommodating and professional, any time of day or night. I needed the Modera to be a comfortable place to work and sleep; it absolutely was both. The hotel is not luxurious, but it is very comfortable, a tasteful and not-hard-edged take on mid-century modern that fits the physical plant of the building well. The only complaints I'd have about the physical state of the guest rooms is that the lighting, especially at the desk and in the entry hallway, could be improved, and another full-length mirror wouldn't hurt, but neither would prevent me from staying again or recommending it. This hotel has a younger vibe and a mostly younger staff, but grown-up attention to fluffy towels, crisp sheets, comfortable guest robes, fair value and excellent service.

great hotel for the money. gym a block away. enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant. staff was great. room very clean and pleasant. room was small but had plenty of room.

“Great stay!”

The staff was very friendly. I was in Portland because of a work training, I needed to print something and they printed what I needed for me. They were always ready to give direction and recommend a place to eat. I will defenitly stay there again.

“All-around great place”

We came there to meet a friend and to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was excellent, and receptive to the fact it was an anniversary, so they took extra steps to make it special (like storing some flowers for me in the back office so that I could spring my surprise more effectively). The food in the restaurant was excellent, the bartenders engaging, and the overall hotel atmosphere was calm and zen-like, so I found myself walking around smiling. Excellent place and excellent location. I'm just a week out of there, and I'm recommending it already. We also utilized the (very conveniently located!) health club and the experience was smooth and the club was just what we needed to get the day started right. I gotta mention those animal print blankets. My girlfriend and I never turned back a sheet. The blankets were enough to cover us and keep us warm. It was splendid. And, when we asked for another for the next night, there was no problem. The staff delivered it within minutes. Nice! I'm a fan, and I'll be back.

“Pleasantly surprised.”

The hotel had a very pleasing atmosphere, warm and friendly staff and the room was very comfortable. We also enjoyed the restaurand Nel Centro which had delicious and reasonably priced food.

“What a Gem”

What a Gem of a hotel. The design and renovation of this hotel is superb. Great ideas and execution. Staff was more than willing to help any way they could. Service in the restaurant was great along with a great variety of food. I love the outdoor courtyard. It is very large with fire pits and a beautiful living wall along its length. Very interesting use of materials through out.
