I would stay againPosted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: The Staff, décor, courtyard
Cons: preference seating for guests by the fireplaces.
Location: Location is fine, about a 10 min walk to downtown Pioneer Park.
Room had a good style, not overly done, sliding door to the bathroom was narrow, but fine. It's simple, with a great view of the courtyard below. The food as I read, is really very good. The staff was attentive and always opened the door when we entered. They were helpful with suggestions for the city, and had a great handout with a list of restaurants available. Again, the team there was very polite, not scripted which is why I choose these type of Hotels because they're not dry and corporate like so many of their competitors. They seem genuinely sincere in their casual conversations.

Very nice hotel, convenient downtown locationPosted Oct 13, 2014
Location: Great downtown location, with convenient access to transit, and within a short walk from the University, and the Keller Theatre.
We very much enjoyed our recent stay at the Modera. We loved the contemporary décor, the friendly courteous staff, and clean comfortable rooms. The beautifully designed courtyard with its large fire pits is a great place to chill with a glass of your favorite spirits or enjoy a meal at the end of the day's activities. This was our first visit to Portland, attending a conferene at the convention center. By the time we signed up for the conference all of the rooms near the convention center were booked. Lucky break for us because this allowed us to experience the Modera. Getting to the convention center was a breeze because the hotel is conveniently located on the MAX line, which is a quick 10 minute ride to the convention center. We found the location very convenient, within walking distance or a short tram ride from anywhere in the downtown core. We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone, and would definitely stay there again.

Barely DowntownPosted Oct 7, 2014
Pros: Modern decorations.
Cons: Bigger rooms. Cleaner. More central location.
This hotel is downtown, but a bit out of the way. They rooms are small, but decently appointed. It is a nice 3 star. It is not a 4 star.

Very nice hotel, near Keller auditorium.Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: I chose the hotel for it's location, the lobby was very welcoming as was the staff.
Cons: Microwaves in the room, or at least in the lobby area would be nice.
Location: We went to Keller auditorium for the play "kinky boots".
The hotel was nice, the bar area was especially nice, with lots of seating and a lovely outside area with several seating areas around fire pits.

Keller Auditorium just 3 blocks awayPosted Sep 19, 2014
Pros: I would only stay at the Hotel Madera if I were returning to Portland for another Keller Auditorium event.
Paid a boat load of $$$ for one night and EVERYTHING in the room, including a bottle of water, cost extra. I felt the Hotel Madera nickeled and dimed guests to death. I would only stay if I were returning to Portland for another Keller Auditorium event.

Portland discoveryPosted Sep 15, 2014
My wife and I came in for a night and enjoyed the location to be perfect and atmosphere of the hotel and staff very welcoming. While the room seemed a little warn and still smelled of cigarette smoke the linens, pillows, blankets and towels etc. were clean and fresh. The outdoor lounge was a perfect wind-down to wrap up a long day.

Nicely updated, clean hotel, with a great locationPosted Sep 8, 2014
Cons: Complimentary coffee and water in the lobby.
Location: Festivals at waterfront and in the park blocks. Saturday market, tons of restaurants, and shopping.
Hotel is nicely remodeled. Friendly, helpful staff. Tons of restaurants nearby, short walk to waterfront. We took our bikes which was a great way to get around the city. Very bike firendly city and hotel.

Overpriced and Over-ratedPosted Sep 7, 2014
Pros: cool lobby, cool location
My room smelled like smoke. The AC didn't work well and the room was tiny. Very over-priced in every aspect. The quality was not very good.
