Lovely Modern Hotel with Great Location
Posted Jan 18, 2013
We all really enjoyed Hotel Modera as it was within walking distance to much of the town. The style is modern yet comfortable and warm. Front reception staff were very observant and efficient. Nel Centro next door had a great happy hour with delightful food and their room service was quick! Great place to stay and see Portland...

Pros: It had a hip vibe and it was relatively quiet (I stayed on a high floor for this reason). free Wi-Fi and free health club 1 block away
Location: There were actually few amenities within 4-5 blocks. few coffee shops etc. All seemed to be more than a 5 minute walk.
Happy that the conference hotel which was soulless was overbooked

Nice, newly updated hotel. Located in quieter part of downtown. Staff was very friendly, especially the valet. Everything was within walking distance.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Portland, Oregon
Posted Jan 19, 2013
Pros: See above.
Cons: Keep on doing what you are doing.
Location: Don't miss the Portland Art Museum and riding around town on Portland's fantastic public transportation system.
We visited Portland to hear teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Environmental Summit sponsored by Maitripa College et al. The hotel staff were genuinely friendly, appropriately attentive, and helpful. Decor of hotel lobby and rooms was hip and tasteful. Wonderful restaurant in the lobby and full every night we were there. King bed was super comfortable. Easy accessibility to the Portland Light Rail and street cars. We used the 24 hour fitness center and that was convenient and top shelf. You all spoiled us with first class treatment. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

A Downtown Portland Surprise
Posted Jan 13, 2013
What a great experience! This brilliant conversion from a 1960s era motel is a stunning addition to Portlandia. The retro-modern design is of the highest quality. The service tops anything we've experiences in a West Coast city recently and the rooms were comfortable, stylishly finished and well appointed. This is very much a four star property.

Whenever I am in Portland, I stay here
Posted Jan 4, 2013
Pros: I did not say enough above? Room? great. Restaurant ? tasty and great. Staff? Wonderful, friendly and helpful. Vibe? Modern
Cons: Not real crazy about the valet fees. Next time, I will probably not rent a car at the airport.
Location: On a hill on the southwest side of the city. Quick walk to downtown, the River, food carts and great restaurants.
This place is great. Nice rooms, great location and a really nice restaurant to boot. What is not to like? Whenever I am in Portland, I stay here. Great vibe and nice service. Not too crazy about the valet service charge, but hey, it is what it is. And they are great about inputting your valet ticket in their computer system so you have the number and don't have to worry about the ticket. I also like the fact that you have to use your room key to access the floors above the main lobby. It gives you a feeling of security. The restaurant Nel Centro, is very good. I like the fact that you can come down to the bar, eat dinner and then go back to your room. So if you want to leave the hotel to eat, there a great restaurants near by. But if you don't, the in house restaurant is pretty amazing. Would recommend this place to others. And like I said, when I am in Portland, I stay here. There are no doubt other venues in the city that are as nice and have some of the same, if not better amenities. But for the price, this hotel puts it all together very nicely, and the staff is just great. I love this place.

Wonderful boutique hotel

Pros: service, comfy beds and friendly helpful staff
Cons: nothing
Location: good
This is a small boutique hotel, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They recommended several restaurants that were excellent. The beds are very comfortable and they offer nice thick soft bath towels. The happy hour and food at the Nel Centro is excellent. I would return.

Easter Weekend couple pleaser!

Pros: Modern touches combined with friendly and helpful service...
Cons: Room size
Location: Hotel located in downtown Portland and close to Riverfront & Portland State Univ.
Service was friendly, staff was extremely helpful with every request. First time at Hotel Modera. King Deluxe room a little small but amenities were as advertised. The staff had to replace the iPod dock but did so promptly. Bathroom fixtures appear to have come from Pottery Barn. Excellent quality...food service & food was outstanding, to the point that even though breakfast service was over they recommended another hotel that served b'fast until 11am. I Definately would stay there again.
