I loved this hotel, and the staff members were all very helpful! The concierge was able to find me some awesome tours that got me to places that I didn't think I could go to in a short visit to Portland. I would absolutely stay there again.

Pros: nice decor
The staff was unprofessional and rude. The night manager was extremely rude and pompous.

Fun hotel right downtown

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: From the doorman and reception to the housekeeping staff, everyone was extremely nice and seemed to be happy to see us.
Cons: Anti-microbial wipes (eg. Sani-cloths or Cavi wipes) for the yoga mat would be appreciated.
Location: Central to everything, 2 blocks to Pioneer Plaza, food trucks nearby, 4-5 blocks to the river, Portland is a great walking town.
We stayed for a long weekend in Portland. The hotel is conveniently located right downtown, 2 blocks from MAX trains, 2 blocks from food trucks. The hotel has a fun vibe when you walk in including a welcome board for any dogs that are staying in the hotel. We had a queen suite that was very comfortable. The sofa was a little too soft to sit on but everything else was perfect. A small refrigerator was nice to have to store some fresh fruit/snacks. Apparently you can get a pet goldfish for your room if you plan ahead and ask for one. A yoga mat in the room is a nice touch. The wine/beer reception was a lot of fun with donuts from VooDoo donuts as a special treat.

Conveniently located, Nice Portland Hotel

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Location, convenience, decor
Cons: Dirty coffee cups, uncomfortable bed, outrageous overnight parking charges.
Location: Lots of restaurants in the neighborhood and an easy walk to the major shopping area
We had an enjoyable stay at the Hotel Monaco in Portland. Location is great and it's easy to get around. It's a very nice hotel and the rooms are very spacious. A couple of gripes: As someone who typically looks forward to hotel beds, this one was a little hard and the pillows were large and awkwardly shaped, but it wasn't uncomfortable by any means. Also, we flipped the coffee mugs over to use them in the morning and they were extremely dirty and had dried up residue all over them. Definitely did not expect that type of thing from such an otherwise nice property. Finally, $38 for overnight valet parking is a LOT. Way too much, if you ask me. I'm sure they're trying to be eco-friendly and encourage guests to travel by transit, but I shouldn't feel like I'm being punished for driving.

Disappointed stay.

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: I do like the location of the hotel which is 2 blocks away from the shopping center.
Cons: I think the staff can be friendlier and please fix the fan in the bathroom
We stayed at Monaco for two days and the overall experience was very disappointing. The normal check-in hour for the hotel is at 3 but our room wasn’t ready until 4:45. The hotel staff wasn’t friendly. The bathroom fan isn’t working and the setup of the hotel looks outdated.

Great location and interesting decoration

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: Unique decor, very comfortable and quiet rooms. Silent air conditioning.
A typical Kimpton hotel, with unique room decoration, free wine reception each evening, free coffee in the morning and snacks in the afternoon. The suite was huge, and comfortable. A great location in the middle of downtown - everything is a short walk away. The only down side is the city noise on a Friday evening - this isn't the fault of the hotel but a result of its location. It was quite on a Saturday - July 4th may have contributed.

A nice hotel for a staycation!

Posted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: I like the fact that this hotel, while they do accommodate dogs, have a hypoallergenic floor. Early check in and late check out.
Cons: The Red Star Tavern restaurant connected to hotel was disappointing as the menu was very limited.
Location: There are a lot of good restaurants, in the Pearl district nearby. This hotel was only blocks to the Waterfront Blues Festival. Close to shopping.
Stayed at this hotel to celebrate my son's birthday and to attend the annual Blues Festival. The decor is quirky--keeping Portland weird. We had selected the Suite with 2 queen beds, on the hypoallergenic floor. The room was clean and very comfortable. Wine tasting is offered at 5:00 pm, daily. It was very well done, and many hotel quests were in attendance. The staff was very friendly and accommodating during our stay. But the best part of our stay, was the surprise that my son received, from the staff, for his birthday. The front desk had a bottle of sparkling wine and a huge slice of birthday cake delivered to the room while we were out. My son and I were very touched by the staff's thoughtfulness. A shout out to Jenna and the rest of the staff, at the front desk! I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Nice hotel, but they have no Public brand bikes

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Cons: Stop advertising that they have Public bikes when they don't.
No Public bikes. The hotel was nice, but one of the main reasons that we chose this hotel is that we love Public brand bikes and were looking forward to exploring Portland on Public bikes. Not only did they not have Public bikes, but the bikes that they did have were pretty crappy and we had two flats, far from the hotel, of course.
