Eclectic Stay!Posted Mar 10, 2014
Pros: The lobby, the room decor, pet friendly, goldfish in the rooms. Staff was helpful with excellent restaurant suggestions. Great happy hour!
Cons: Nothing. I LOVED this hotel!!!
Location: Location is right in the heart of town. Perfect for walking to restaurants, the food trucks, shopping, Powells. Easy access to transit.
Fun hotel. Loved the giant lobby and eclectic decor. Something bright and fun to see everywhere. We spent three nights and had a 2 queen bed suite which worked well. Nice to have the extra space with comfy chairs and couch. The happy hour was fun and well attended and the large lobby had fun things to do: giant jengo, a painting station and live music.

Pros: lobby and wine reception. coffe in a.m. cool decor
Cons: need to invest in mattresses and remove coffe makers from the bathrooms.
Location: easy to dine and shop
Staff was pleasant and helpful. the beds are the worst. Felt like a 25 year old mattress. Coffee maker and coffee cups in the bathroom....right next to sink and toilet. very unpleasant

The hotel has super friendly and helpful staff. There is a lot of extras I wish I took advantage of like bike rental and the happy hour in the lobby. I will make sure to do so next time.

Great Place to Stay in Portland!!Posted Feb 21, 2014
Cons: make happy hour at 6 - 7 .... it was tough to get back to the hotel by 5 and we hated to miss it.
Location: The location was perfect. It was our first time in Portland and we did it up big. Used all the transportation that was available.
We loved everything about this place. The help at the desk was always friendly and they had many suggestions for places to eat and transportation. The room was fabulous and so different than staying in a box hotel where after a few days you feel claustrophobic. We had the king sweet and loved wearing the funky robes! Beds were cozy and it was just a great place to come after a day of touring. The 5-6 happy hour made us happy. It was great to talk with others guests and our daughter had fun painting on the canvas boards supplied. What a great idea! We loved seeing the dogs in the lobby and were happy to have a goldfish in our room! Sad to leave this place and Portland. It was a great weird time! Thanks hotel Monaco!

Great location even during a big snowPosted Feb 20, 2014
Pros: The location and comfort of the hotel and the friendly and helpful staff.
Location: We had a great dinner at the hotel but also nearby restaurants that were easy to walk to included The Original, The Imperial and The Bijou.
On our first visit to Portland since our daughter moved there, we stayed here. The decor was unusual and a bit quirky but we really liked it. Portland received several inches of snow the night we arrived. When everything turned to ice a day or so later it was tricky getting around but we were still able to walk to some good restaurants so the location is good. The hotel restaurant was nice and the morning coffee in the lobby was convenient. The front desk staff was very helpful each time we had a question and they led us to some great places for meals. When our flight home was cancelled and we were rebooked at 6 am, they made sure our cab was there on time to pick us up. We will definitely return to Hotel Monaco.

Great location, friendly staffPosted Feb 20, 2014
We almost didn't stay here because in the photos the decor looked a bit outlandish, but in the end we were very glad that we chose this place! It's very well located and the staff is helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. Enjoyed our stay!

Fun Hotel. Great for KidsPosted Feb 18, 2014
We had so much fun at Hotel Monaco! The hosted wine hour was a blast for us and for the kids. They had a painting area with canvases and nice acrylic paints, a Valentine making area, a Wii, a huge Jenga set and snacks and drinks for kids. They had decent wine and a great piano player. There were a lot of hotel guests there and it felt like a party every evening. Our room was very comfortable and spacious (we had a double double suite). We loved the decor and even the sofa bed was pretty comfortable. They had kid sized bathrobes and a little stuffed animal for them to take home. They even brought an adorable bug-eyed blue fish to be our pet during our stay.
