Walkable downtown location

Pros: Room was ample size; King bed among best ever for hotels I've stayed in; and fabulous décor as mentioned before makes a difference.
Cons: They don't give you Kimpton Intouch points if you book via Expedia. Something to think about if you are awards-motivated.
Fabulous décor like many Kimpton hotels, wine hour in evening, and great location near shops and restaurants. Housekeeping dilgent - even if you don't use them everyday, they make sure you have coffee refills

A seriously chic and cool place. Service was friendly and genuine, the lounge was cool and hip, and my god the rooms were gorgeous. Stay in the king suite ( and bring your pooch!!)

A nice hotel for any type of travellers

Pros: Great location, clean rooms.
Cons: None
Location: Center of downtown Portland
The Kimpton "Monaco" hotel is centrally located in the downtown Portland, just a few short blocks from the Red Line light train to/from the airport. The rooms are clean and well maintained, the staff is very attentive and accomodating. Staying there was a real delight for us.

beautiful hotel in a great location

we were a couple staying in the monaco during a vacation. our stay in portland was 4 days long, we decided to go with our first choice for a hotel and were constantly glad we did. the monaco is an inviting, artsy, vibrant place to crash any time of the day. the gym was well stocked / lit / equipped, and the view from the room was terrific! the staff was courteous, we often were busy in the room and rescheduling cleaning with the maid / with the front desk was no issue whatsoever. i've been singing praises of the hotel to friends and wouldn't stay anywhere else in portland for following trips.

Friendly, eccentric, central location

Pros: Absolutely wonderful staff. Fun and eccentric interior.
Location: central, convenient
Overall this hotel was wonderful. The decor was eccentric (if you are looking for standard business hotels, or want to chat about serious stuff in the hotel - this is probably not for you). There was free coffee in the morning, and free treats in the afternoon, although I missed most of the after ones. The staff members were wonderful - they were really friends and helpful when we asked for information about Portland. The location was central so that was a plus. Overall, loved the hotel, would recommend and would stay there again.

Pros: Staff and their accommodating disposition.
Cons: Hard small bed.
Location: Grear location middle of downtown Portland !! Room was still pretty quiet too
Superb front desk staff. Made me very happy. Only complaint was that room for two adults was only a queen bed -hard bed too. But staff was wonderful, accommodating, and super friendly.

You will be taken care of

Pros: the caring staff and beautiful room
Cons: none
Location: close to everything happening in the middle of downtown
A scheduling snafu (my fault) on my 25th anniversary had me almost in tears. My wife and I were in Portland on Memorial Day weekend (we took Amtrak from Tacoma) and were at the Hotel Monaco a day earlier than our reservation. I thought I had perfectly planned a special weekend... The staff were so caring and accomodating and helped us get another room at a nearby hotel for the first night of the busy holiday weekend. From the moment we checked in the next day and throughout our stay, the staff and the hotel were incredible. The hotel has such eclectic rooms, and the artwork everywhere is amazing. Just off the lobby is a large sitting room with a unique array of comfy chairs and couches. Our room was perfect! The hotel is in the middle of downtown, with food cart pods, coffee shops, nightlife and the incredible Portland Saturday Market within an easy walk.
