“Good Hotel For The Price”

This place is clean and much cheaper than hotels in downtown Portland. It's not the Ritz, but they are putting a lot of effort into making it good, and it's about half the price of any nice hotel in town.

“Very Tired Facility”

Hotel rooms need updating. The furniture was old and very cheap. The desk did not have an electrical outlet for laptop. Free wireless internet was provided. Heating unit was very noisy. Hotel information in binder on the desk was food-stained and gross. Rate was ok.

“Not Impressed with Bathroom Cleanliness”

The first morning of our stay the bathtub didn't drain properly. Discovered it was due to a large amount of hair clogging the drain. Surprised the cleaning staff didn't notice and take care of it previously as the drain stop was already removed. I personally cleared it to a point it would drain so we could take a shower and not be delayed. When I mentioned it to the staff upon leaving they apologized without much sincerity. Hopefully they fully clear it out for the next guest.

“HoJo is pretty great”

This hotel was on the less expensive side but it was really nice. I went in expecting mediocre levels of cleanliness and quality at best, but it was great.

“Good deal close to little outlet shopping mall”

We found the hotel through Expedia and were pleasantly surprised to see that it was decorated like a ski hotel. Despite breakfast not being included in the deal I'd recommend this place if you're traveling along Hoghway 112 during Fall Foliage or to Mt Washington. It's conveniently located. Also next door: a small outlet shopping mall.

“visiting portland”

My second visit in September was by far superb to the previous one. With the exception of not having a van picking me up at the hotel and no taxi available because I had a 3 year old that required a car seat.

“Would stay here again.”

I was very pleased with this hotel. The room I stayed in was really spacious and very clean. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was for the rate I paid. I will for sure stay here on my next visit to Portland.

“Great value”

Clean rooms, comfortable bed, clean bathroom with plenty of hot water, 60+ stations on the TV. Good food cheap nearby, easy highway access and easy access to driving downtown Portland (4 miles). If you think a clean, reasonably priced place to sleep is what a hotel is all about you can't go wrong here.

“Solid Value in Portland”

This was my second stay at this HoJo just outside Portland ME, right off I-95, in the past two months, most recently (just befor Labor Day) on a college visit with my friend and her daughter, and in late June on vacation. The June visit was in a room with with a single queen bed, and most recently with two doubles. The queen was quite comfortable, the double - not so much. But, this place is VERY clean, staff is VERY friendly and accomodating, and the value (place has an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center) is hard to beat. Okay, the decor is not my taste (a bit dated) but place is clean, no registered sightings of bed bugs (I do check this stuff out, folks), and you are just on the egde of town with many shopping / dining options within a mile. A drive to Old Port is less than 15 minutes...for me, I like these types of locations, not in the heart of town but a close drive. Would definitely stay here again especially for the money / value.

Area recommendations

Have to visit Old Port on Portland's waterfront - great mix of places to eat, shop, and drink, many offering live music...this is a scaled-down Boston! Very friendly here, no matter where we went...quite refreshing. Ate at Gritty's (Gritty McDuff's Brew Pub) and $3 Dewey's, both terrific places if you like pub fare (brew and sandwiches)...
