I had been recommended this hotel from a friend. Saw a deal on expedia and decided to try it out. Loved it from the moment we walked in the door. Very modern, clean. Room was spacious and a suite to boot. I wasn't expecting that but fully stocked with all cooking equipment you would need although I don't know of anyone who would visit Portland and cook dinner in a hotel room with all the incredible dining options there are. Nice big king bed, super comfy with lots of pillows. Bonus for a 7 month pregnant lady! Sitting area was nice and comfortable as well. 2 flat screen TVs which I thought was a bit excessive, but nice none the less.
Breakfast is included but as a celiac, this left much to be desired. Lots of bagels, muffins, etc.
Huge glass containers of starbursts and taffy throughout and as much coffee available at all times of day you desire. Oh, and a Kurieg in the room.
Location is great, walkable to 23rd which has great shops. Also close to Salt and Straw!
Overall, a great place to stay!

I stay at the Heathman often. We have seminars here with the company I work for and whenever I do business in Vancouver, of course the Heathman is my first choice for accommodations. I love the super comfy mattresses and the happy hour and breakfast on the business floor. Hudson's is one of my favorite places to eat in Vancouver, so yummy!

Absolutely friendly, clean, quiet, and comfortable. In spite of the large party in the lobby and banquet room, we had a lovely stay with staff that slowed to answer our questions and offer help at every turn. Our room was across from the elevator and very quiet and comfortable. We even extended our stay by 1 night and hope to stay again.

"What will happen to the Heathman under new owners?"
I stayed at the Heathman as always on my last trip to Portland. Decked out for Christmas, crazy crowded but still quiet and peaceful in the room. The staff is sharp and attentive as always - they have a great way of having the same person who checks you in take you to your room with your luggage and get you settled. There's no stages of checking in.
The hotel is breathtakingly lovely this time of year. It IS my Christmas so I look forward to it the way kids look forward to putting up a tree. They have redone the menu in the bar and it is much better, but still with old classics. The place still feels the same with beautiful wood detailing and marble. Nothing feels cozier.
I just learned the Heathman has been sold and the executive staff is already being replaced. I hope the new owner is not too heavy-handed with this. Heathman is a classic - this kind of service no longer exists in Portland and it keeps us repeat customers coming back.
The rooms, as always, are a bit small. But completely comfortable - great beds - everything you need. Spotlessly clean everywhere, and quiet. And the library is a wonderful place to sit with a drink or cup of tea and find a good book. There's a chocolate shop in the lobby that sells drinkable chocolate - don't miss this on a cold winter day. The hotel has old school charm but isn't run down at all. I much prefer this to the cold, modern décor at the local boutique hotels.

We had a very friendly welcome that didn't stop at the door. The hotel room was perfect for the two of us and our breakfast the following morning was brilliant. We really enjoyed our stay and will come back again.

From the moment we pulled up in the car, the service was excellent during our stay. The staff alone would be worth a second visit- highly professional, polite, and accommodating. The facility is a Beaux-Arts beauty; a grand hotel in the old style. The attached bar, Jack Knife, has an appropriate Portlandia-esque cabin feel and serves a great variety of local beers as well as a well-made Old Fashioned. Jake's serves a solid breakfast with great window seating to enjoy the street scenery. The location is tough to beat as well- central to just about everything in the downtown core. We will return!

Came here just before the winter holidays and loved the Christmas decor. Great location for easily getting around downtown Portland - Powell's Books is only half a mile away! Even if you're carrying lots of books, it's not a long back to the hotel, and you can avoid the crazy parking situation around Burnside. The hotel staff, especially the concierge, were super friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming back here!
