Fun Hotel great location to shops restaurant'sPosted Sep 10, 2014
I liked the hotel and the location. Most of the front desk people were nice, except the afternoon we checked in the girl was a bit rude to us for no reason. She seemed to be angry maybe just did not like her job. I wish I would have asked for her name. We checked in on Sunday afternoon Sept.7th

Breakfast Downgraded / Coffee worse than beforePosted Sep 10, 2014
This was our third stay in this hotel. Price has increased and we noticed some upgrade in common space. However, the hotel lacked the friendliness they used to have. Breakfast was downgraded and no longer an attraction. Quality of the food is worse than when we stayed last time. Thy have introduced new coffee machine but the taste got worse. We still like the hotel but it needs improvements in service and breakfast. With higher price tag, this hotel is less value for money than it used to be. I hope we will see the improvements next time we will be in Portland.

I HIGHLY recommend this hotel!!!!Posted Sep 4, 2014
Pros: Location. Cleanliness. Colors!
Cons: Nothing that I can think of.
Location: Great location....restaurants and streetcar nearby!
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night during a recent trip to Portland. Honestly, I wished we were there longer because I LOVED the hotel! First thing you will notice are the amazing bright colors. Our room was painted lime green and the bathroom was HOT PINK! It was awesome. Aside from the funky colors and bold decor...the staff was super nice (I think everyone who lives in Portland is super nice). They were very helpful with giving us directions and recommending places to check out. The location is great. I liked that it wasn't right in the middle of downtown...it's just north of it. The public transportation in Portland is great so you can hop on a Streetcar just one block down to get downtown in the matter of minutes. On the way back to the hotel my husband and I ended up walking. It wasn't too bad....took about 15/20 minutes. There are a lot of restaurants right around the hotel as well if you feel like staying close. I digress. Back to the room-it was clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower was PERFECT...nice water pressure. We had a balcony...and there is a main balcony on the third floor with a lot of seating where you can hang for a bit. Oh...and free breakfast was another plus. YOU SHOULD STAY HERE!

Cute hotel in great location!Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: I liked the full kitchen, comfortable beds, helpful staff and colorful, quirky decor.
Location: There are many interesting restaurants and shops on nearby 21st and 23rd Avenues, and the whole city is available by trolley.
The Inn at Northrup Station is a pleasant hotel in a wonderful location in northwest Portland. The staff was helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable, and the trolley stops right outside the door.

Fun&Funky Hotel in the Heart of the City!Posted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: Location, rooms, style.
Cons: Happy hour maybe?
Location: Streetcar to Pearl, walk to Knob Hill, drive to the Grotto. WIth kids- fountains at Jamieson Square, Oregon Zoo, waterfront.
Such a great stay at Northrup this week! Hotel is fun, colorful and unique. It's central to lots of great sights, quiet and easy to access. Thought the breakfast was very good (bagels, fruit, cereal, yogurt), beds were super comfy and being right beside streetcar was handy. Parking and wi-fi included (MAJOR bonus) and facilities were well kept. Not many rooms, very kid friendly and in a safe neighbourhood. Loved our room, complete with little patio, kitchen and large screen tv. Put kids on pull out coach, lots of room for everyone. Funky, upscale Knob Hill main drag short walk away and take streetcar throughout the Pearl district for shopping, restaurants and of course Powells books. Def recommend, hope to come back. WELL worth the money.

Close to everything! Can walk to tons of restaurants and there is a train stop right outside the door. Something different. Love the look of the hotel. Balconies are nice. We had the suite, nice size, but I expected separate bedroom. Hard with a two year old, but it worked. Rooftop lounge is nice and classy. Would probably be more useful if there was a small bar up there as well. Even if they just sold bottled beers or something.

Freshly-painted but still just a motelPosted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: Nothing really, they gave a free ticket for the Portland streetcar, which was only worth about $2.
Cons: At about 1/3 the price this might be worth considering as a budget overnight motel.
Location: It is not in a central location, there are some restaurants within walking distance.
This was a disappointing stay in many ways however I would note in particular that it appeared using Expedia gave me a bad room. When I asked for a switch, I was first informed that I had booked on Expedia. I'm not sure why that ought to matter and the receptionist backtracked when I asked if Expedia customers receive discriminatory room assignments. But the fact of this even being raised was enough to cause suspicion. Among other problems the room was smelly, had very loud a/c, and was only a door away from the reception. I would refrain from booking again on Expedia.

Quirky PlusPosted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Clean and comfortable. Not cookie cutter. Pretty good breakfast. Free parking.
Cons: Stop trying so hard. Half the kitsch would have more than enough. The desk personnel was cold and clearly just going through the motions.
Location: Pearl district. Lots of local color.
This is a cute, clean hotel. There are surprises everywhere. Most of them are good. This place is well-located with lots of shops and restaurants.

Three nights in PortlandPosted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Decor, character and location
Cons: More variety of fruit at breakfast.
Location: Free ticket hotel / town. Visitor centre great info. Free concert on Thurs on Broadway in summer. Buildings interesting styles. Pink Trolley tour good
Most quirky hotel we have ever stayed in. Colour scheme loud but it works! Logo everywhere - including the loo roll. Handy for the streetcar and easy walk to restaurants. Felt safe after dark. Can recommend Papa Haydns for meal or even just dessert. Hotel breakfast made a nice change from fry ups but would have enjoyed some more different fresh fruit than apples oranges and bananas.

A suite in a great part of town, with great staffPosted Jul 19, 2014
I think every room here is a suite - you get a big living space, kitchen with cooking facilities, and comfortable beds. Located in the Pearl district it's in a great part of Portland if you like craft breweries, great coffee and great food. A warm and sincere welcome from staff, free parking, and no noise at night. A great place to stay in Portland!
