It was ok

Posted Sep 28, 2014
Pros: great staff
Cons: overall "feeling" of being more inviting and comforting
nice hotel, great staff, had an odor on the 3rd floor, seems as though it used to be a smoking hotel in the past a lot of construction going on seems more like a motel

Ok for convenience

Posted Sep 21, 2014
Pros: The bed was very comfortable
Cons: Updated carpeting, get better pancake blend. Not everyone is gluten free....
Location: Hospital very close.. As well as train, bus, route 295 to airport...very we'll situated
The hotel is very close to the hospital, so it was perfect in that respect. The young lady that checked us in was very pleasant. As for the hotel itself, it could use some refreshing, for sure. The first floor is under repair from a flood (acceptable) but the upper floors are showing some age. Kind of gloomy in the halls. Of course when the train went through at 2a.m. Or so, it sounded like a plane landing outside the window..lol .but for our purposes of being just down the hill from the hospital, as mentioned, it was perfect. Although we did not use the shuttle, there was one available.

Outskirts of Portland

Posted Sep 14, 2014
Pros: Pleasant staff.
Cons: Redoration, perhaps 2nd floor is on their list to do!
Location: A little run down, if you do not mind walking about 30mins into Portland Centre.
Hotel ok, building work on ground floor - slight noise. Area not great, walked into Portland but felt I was on my guard. Breakfast standard. Amtrax run through the night, train tack nearby so not great for light sleepers.

Broken equipment in the fitness room.

Posted Sep 13, 2014
Two of three tread mills did not work. The staff were aware of the inoperable equipment, but did not mark the equipment to indicate its condition. I stayed for three days and no apparent action was taken to fix the tread mills.

Comfy beds!

Posted Sep 9, 2014
I had a very restful night, slept better on this bed than on my own bed at home. No problem with late checkin. Best price this close to downtown.

Cons: Breakfast was pretty lame. Mac Donalds can do great coffee, why not this hotel?
Location: Not a good place to walk or bike from. Ballpark is nearby but shops, restaurants etc, not.
Room was clean. Staff were friendly. The hotel was under repair.

Good value except for paint fumes

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Convenient and affordable hotel
Cons: Don't do industrial painting while guests are in the hotel
Location: Easy access to Portland Seadogs and downtown attractions.
The room was clean and comfortable but we were surprised and disappointed to find them doing industrial painting which sent fumes throughout the hotel, including light fumes in our room the first night.

The hotel is conveniently located near the downtown, but is due for a makeover. The bed is comfortable, but the towels are thin. The breakfast offerings are decent. Overall, the hotel is a clean basic place to stay overnight as you pass through the New England states.

Under repair and construction

Posted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: They take pets
Cons: Just about everything could be improved. Honesty about the construction is an issue.
Location: Located in residential/ light industrial area . Not much near to see or enjoy.
Finding the hotel from the highway is not easy and the driving directions given to us by the front desk staff were not much help. The hotel was under renovation with noise and dust. Had we known we would have chosen a different hotel. The location is not near restaurants. The parking lot is small and made smaller with construction vehicles taking some parking spaces. Highway noise did not help sleeping. Breakfast area was under construction so the advertised breakfast was not available. They gave us a granola bar and yogurt to eat in the car. We asked for a reduction in the charged and they said "no" because we booked through Expedia. Careful about working through Expedia. Read the fine print.
