“Good value for money”
Room with kitchen and living room was excellent. Free wine tasting 5-6pm was good. Breakfast quite simple but good and well supplied. Friendly personnel Received a 20% discount from Hotel for next visit
“Love Portland!”
Though this hotel is a bit older than some, it has great charm. The staff were great, the wifi was easily accessible and the location was awesome. I would most likely stay at this hotel again when I come back to visit.
“portland”
The hotel is not the typical layout I expected. Small kitchenette and large closet for longer term stays. Not as updated as I expected but clean. Parking in their lot was a bit of an issue.
“Will return!”
Very pleased! Hospitable staff.
“Mark Spencer rocks!”
After searching Portland for the right place to stay I decided on the Mark Spencer. Boy, am I glad I did. We were only a few blocks walk from the light rail that takes you to and from the airport. The Pearl District, with all of its breweries, stores and galleries, was mere blocks away. The breakfast is fine if all you want is fruit, bagels and croissants. (The croissants were pretty awesome) If you want something more then go across the street to Kenny and Zuke's Deli for bacon and eggs. There is a 24 hr. coffee/mocha/ chai tea/hot chocolate machine that puts out pretty good coffee. The staff is also awesome. Just so kind and friendly. One of the best hotel staffs I've ever had! The room has a real fridge and is fully stocked in case you feel like cooking instead. (There's also a Whole Foods close by for any shopping needs.) The walls are a little thin. It wasn't bad, but a few times I did hear the people on the other side of the wall if they got a little noisy. All in all, for the price and location I would stay here again and highly recommend it for others.
“Good hotel, bad room”
Service, location, breakfast, tea time, lobby - all great. Decent price. But in-room fridge was very loud, had to unplug it to sleep. We were next to an elevator and could hear it through the wall. Would recomend hotel, but make sure you don't get a room next to the elevator.
“The place to stay in Portland”
The best part of the Mark Spencer is being two very short blocks away from Powells Book Store. The afternoon coffee & cookies was a nice touch, also the evening wine tasting & hors d'oeurves. Downsides: the parking garage (extra charge) was semi-inconvenient to use (had to step out of the car to open the gate and use two elevators to get back to our room), breakfast could have had a little more protein (they had hard-boiled eggs but no sausage, bacon, etc.). The coffee machine rocked - we want to get one for ourselves. I can't stress enough how super friendly and helpful the staff were - answered every one of our tourist-stupid questions with a cheerful smile. I'm hoping I have an excuse to go to Portland again soon just so I can stay there again.
“Will stay there again - But!”
I love this hotel but I always forget what lousy coffee they have. It is one of those instant machines that makes espresso, lattes and cappuccinos at the push of a button. However, it all taste terrible and I don't know why they don't serve some fresh drip from Stumptown. Our room was on the first floor by the staircase and people were running down it all night. It was very noisy and I will be sure not to get this room again. Everything else was perfect and I will stay here again.
“Portlands Mark Spencer”
We knew that the hotel was older but we were pleasently supprized to see how nice it was. The staff was awesome and we will definately come here again and reccomend this to all our friends.
“Great location, great deal”
If nothing else, the location of this hotel is perfect for a fun night in downtown Portland. The service staff here was faaaaaabulous, and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice a room I got here for such a reasonable price. Definitely will stay here again.
