Very Dirty Floors

Posted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: Proximity to the convention center.
Cons: Cleanliness of the floors. Staff response to reports on improvements that could be made.
Location: Good location.
The floors were really dirty! The floors felt sticky, and carpet made my feet black. When I reported it upon checkout, the desk clerk said that everyone could find something to complain about and that they get a lot of customers, and I shouldn't expect the Marriott (which I did not). My needs are modest, and I did not even complain about the cigarette smoke odor in the non-smoking room or the broken latch on the door. Otherwise, the room was clean, and the clerk who checked me in was very courteous and helpful.

Close to transportation

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Location!
Cons: Cleanliness of hotel, smell and mold removed.
Location: Close to max.
Close to the Max. A/C smelled of urine when used, mold under sink rim and on shower handles. Bed was very old, thin mattress. Sheets have holes in them.

The place was smelly and dirty!

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Would never stay there again, to bad because it's in a decent location! Very unhappy about the smell and dirtyness of the place, mattress need to be replaced! Sheets on the bed were paper thin and wouldn't stay on the bed!!

Cheapest for a reason

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Owner gave me attitude right off the bat and announced he has been in the business for 18 years so he didn't care what I had to say. Apparently Motel 6 only supplies soap. No shampoo or conditioner. Sank into the middle of the bed. Great location though for the price.

Proximity & Cost over Facilities

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Pros: Proximity to public transit, easy walk to downtown, price.
Cons: The facility itself could benefit from comprehensive updating.
Location: Outstanding location in Rose Quarter, adjacent to one light rail line and a block from another. About a 25 minute (downhill) to downtown Portland
If you want a relatively inexpensive, very basic but roomy accommodation that is adjacent to light rail lines and within walking distance (downhill) of downtown Portland, this is a very good option. If you are looking for anything close to a fancy hotel, this is not a good option. Located directly across street from convention center in Rose District. I needed a room close to downtown and this one was one of the few available for a reasonable rate. The appearance is not much, small two story L-shape around its parking lot. Arrived before 2 pm check in but clerk was very helpful and got me into my room and provided helpful directions. Room was fairly big, very plain, no frills, but clean. Bathroom same.

Easy Walk to Convention Center

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Pros: Easy walk to Oregon Convention Center, inexpensive, clean, great people who were helpful at the registration counter.
Cons: Moaning/whimpering of the pipes on my last night at the motel.
Location: There are a lot of great restaurants in the downtown area which you probably need a car, taxi or maybe even the bus to get to easily.
I would stay at the Motel 6 in Portland again. It was an easy walk to the convention center where I was attending a conference. Desk personnel were very pleasant, cars in the parking lot were relatively new, and the guests I saw appeared to be vacationers looking for a less expensive but reasonable accommodations. I saw an older couple and two mid 20ish men with new mountaineer type bikes. But no hairdryer :(. I stayed 4 nights. The last night there was a strange moan/whimper that occurred every 15 to 30 seconds. It turned out to be the pipes that had air in them. I used the red rail line from the airport ($2.50) to get to the motel and there was a station just 1 block from the motel. Extremely convenient. There is also some type of bus/street car stop adjacent to the motel which I did not use. Parking and WiFi are also free!!! Not like the more expensive, upscale hotels nearby where parking was around $10 per day. I also saw a sign that they accept dogs under 80 lbs but there was a lady walking her Great Dane around the complex. I like dogs so that was okay with me. I ordered pizza, pasta, salad, chicken wings from a menu in the room and the restaurant delivered. The room had a microwave and refrigerator so I could save the leftovers for breakfast, etc.

Looking for a cheap hotel in Portland?

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Close proximity to public transportation as we didn't rent a car.
Cons: New linens, update bathrooms, better wifi/tv and better amenities like having a computer so guests could print out boarding passes.
Location: Easy access to public transportation; we were able to visit OMSI, the Zoo, Washington Park, downtown, Portland Ariel Tram, etc.........
This hotel was, just ok. We wanted a cheap hotel for a couple days - we found it! If you want a cheap hotel within close walking distance to the Portland Streetcar(s) or Max lines - you found it. The one hotel employee we were in contact with was cordial enough, but not overly helpful. The room had adequate cleanliness but could use a little upgrading with paint and other things as well as new linens. Sheets scratchy from over bleaching - but what can you expect - we didn't pay very much. Really, no amenities to speak of.... next time, we will spend a little more to have a little more comfort. You get what you pay for. Overall, if we couldn't find another hotel, I would stay here again. If you like it really quiet, don't stay here. Being right next to the Max line(s) and Streetcar it could be pretty noisy until later at night.......

It was an okay motel but there was mild in the shower and dirty on the floor along the walls. It was good for what it was. A place to sleep.

good enough economy motel

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Cons: the bath lack basic items like a floor mat & shampoo
Location: near the convention center & sports arena...otherwise lacking charm
$86 in a major city during the vacation season & a major festival is cheap. Cheap gets you a reasonably clean & comfortable room and a parking space on a very busy road adjacent the light rail line. So its conveniently located but noisy.
