“Great location for shopping”

Right downtown. Website said they have a hot tub but there was none.

“"Would go back - take the suite!"”

Great location, service of all the staff --- reception, bellboy, restaurant, housekeeping, etc. Feeling of a small hotel with all the conveniences. brand new excercising equipment in Gym (and well fitted with fruit, water and towels). Downsides: daily cost of garage for car and internet charge

Area recommendations

I traveled for the Portland Marathon; the hotel was just a few block away from the start/finish. Nearby several major department stores, drugstore, park, musseums, restaurants, etc. Within 1-1.5 hrs driving time, great sites around the pacific coast and also a must to visit Silver Falls state park

“Marriott was not prepared for Portland Marthon Guests”

I tried to check into the hotel around 3 pm on Saturday to be informed the suite was not ready and to return in half an hour. After returning 1.5 hours later I was again informed the room was still not ready and to come back in another half hour. I returned at 6pm and the room was still not cleaned. After complaining, John, the manager gave us free valet and 3 breakfast tickets, which was appreciated... but bottom line was it took them 3.5 hours to get us into our room - unacceptable. The hotel was not ready for the large number of guests arriving for the Portland marathon. They should have staffed up more in preparation. I will not be staying there again for this event next year. One postivie note.... they guys at valet were extremely helpful.

“Housekeeping issues”

We spent four nights in January 2011. On one day the maid service did not show up until 4:30 which was quite inconvenient. On at least two occasions the maid failed to replenish coffee, condiments, paper cups, shampoo. Other wise the hotal was pretty much what you would expect. Location was excellent. Valets and doormen were very helpful.

“Great hotel for Portland Marathon runners”

The hotel was busy with people attending the marathon and a convention, but they were polite and efficient with my check-in. The hotel is comfortable, attractive, safe (the elevators require key-cards). The location was ideal for visiting downtown Portland. Close to the river, Powells Bookstore, excellent restaurants, the marathon start, and the famously delicious street vendors. I would definitely stay there again.

Getting there

If you can, take Amtrak to Portland. Riding the train safer and far more fun than driving. Once you are there, you won't miss your car because the city is swimming in fast and efficient transit options. Don't see a streetcar? Wait ten minutes. Or take the bus. Maybe just bike around. Take a cab if you're in a real hurry. The city itself is very walkable and you can reach the parks or surrounding communities using Metro.

Events and shows

The Portland Marathon is one of the best organized I've ever seen. It is a pleasure to have race organizers that put as much time and effort into the event as the participants.

“Love Downtown Portland”

The Marriott is in a great location, it's close to all activities. We were in Portland for the weekend to attend the Oregon Brewers Festival at Waterfront Park. Everything was within walking distance. The Pearl District is also very close. Great bars, restaurants and clubs are nearby.

Area recommendations

The Pearl District is a lot of fun with a wide variety of restaurants and bars to try. We always enjoy Waterfront Park also.

“nice hotel great location.less than 2 blocks from the light rail from the airport.”

Room was very clean and nicley furnished. tv had many channels and hbo .shower was great, bathroom had nice towels and was well equiped.

Getting there

take the light rail from the airport. cost $2.30 get off at pioneer square .walk 1 block notth and you will see the hotel on the right.

Getting around

the rail system is free in the downtown area. go to the LLoyd center mall on a hot day, there is an indoor ice skating rink, great for the kids.
