A comfortable room in a great location. Walk to everything!
“Location is Perfect, Hotel is Beautiful”
Only reason I did not give the hotel 5 stars is that the room was a bit cramped for the rather steep rate I paid. Otherwise, it's absolutely perfect: responsive service, beautiful building, and planted in the heart of Portland. Location literally could not have been better. Spa is also very nice. I can't imagine that I would stay anywhere else next time I'm in town.
“It was pleasant, but the internal layout of the hotel was confusing.”
The people in the hotel were uniformly very pleasant, and eager to be helpful.
“Great time in Portland”
Convenietly located within blocks of multiple great restaurants and shopping. Friendly staff and extremely helpful.
“A bit tired.”
Needs a sprucing, but great downtown location, and solid service.
“Perfect location”
Can't imagine why anyone would stay anywhere else in Portland. The Regency is right in the middle of the Old Port, surrounded by blocks of wonderfully preserved old buildings filled with shops and restaurants. The service is low-key and reliable - including quick valet parking and coffee and our NYTimes delivered to our door in the morning.
“great hotel in heart of Old Portland”
Hotel is located in the original armory of Portland and a very easy walk to the best restaurants, shopping, and sights. Service was excellent, room was attractive and unusual, good bed and clean. Highly recommend this hotel
“Nice Hotel in Convenient Location”
Historic building converted to hotel provides all the comfort and convenience one needs. Valet parking is extra but necessary in the central part of Portland.
“Location is great, right in the heart of Portland!”
The hotel was cute for a boutique hotel. I felt like the hotel needed some upgrades, because it was a tad bit outdated. The staff was friendly, and we enjoyed the restaurant, 20 Milk. We had the twin lobsters, which were decent for the price. The bread was amazing! I would go back just to get a loaf of the cranberry bread! My only complaint was that we wished that we had a coffee maker in the room because in the evening, the town closes up early, and we wished that we could have had a nice cup of coffee to go with our desserts.
“Comfort, Class & Convenience”
The hotel is perfectly situated in Old Port, so convenient to shops, restaurants and the waterfront. My room was available upon my arrival @ 11 AM. The room was tastefully furnished, extremely comfortable king-size bed and sitting area, and the bathroom had plenty of little extras that make a trip that much more delightful. Room service and the nightly turn-down service are top notch. The restaurant, 20 Milk Street, has an incredible lobster eggs benedict for breakfast, and a savory, rich lobster stew for dinner, among many other choices. They also serve a warm cranberry wheat bread at dinner, kept warm in a basket with a warming stone! All the hotel and restaurant staff and are warm, welcoming and friendly. This is my second time at the Portland Regency, and I plan on returning on my next trip to Portland.
