“Will stay there again”

The river is beautiful, hotel was nice, but heard alot of noise from airplanes and the other guests. But we liked it and will go back.

“Very nice, excellent service”

I was pleasantly surprised with our stay here. We were traveling with a small dog and when we checked in they offered us a room on the ground floor with patio access to an open grass area. They also gave us a small welcome bag for our dog, which I thought was a nice touch. Even more impressive was the fact that they only charged us a pet fee once instead of per night. The room was nice, though the bed was a little hard. The front desk service was friendly, competent and quick. Overall I would gladly stay here again and most likely will when we travel to Portland.

“Would definitely return for a stay at the Red Lion Hotel @ Jantzen Beach!”

Hotel was easily accessed as far as traveling in and out, they offered shuttle service as an ammenity which was very nice, and the number of seating areas on each level within the hotel was very nice. Very friendly customer service and staff was knowledgable in their response to questions asked.

“Great views”

We have stayed at the Red Lion at the Quay in the past but decided to try the Jantzen Beach location this time. It is certainly a lot nicer and for the few extra dollars we had the river/bridge view. It was very pretty at night. Will definitely stay there again.

“Nice Home Base”

We were in town for a wedding and the Red Lion was the perfect place for us. It was 5 min. to downtown. We thought about staying downtown, but are glad we did not. Downtown is a crazy mess, it was nice to stay out of the fray yet still be close for restaurants ETC. The wedding we attended was held in Troutdale and was only about 20 min. from the hotel. The other nice thing about the Red Lion is the easy access to the I-5 freeway. It's right next to the hotel but we did not hear the traffic at all. Also, in my opinion the hotels restaurant was as good as anything else we tried in town. Great food and a beautiful view of the river made for a great dining experience, plus the breakfast was reasonably priced and very good. The hotel staff was also about as good as they come. We had a couple of requests of the staff and they took care of them immediately and with a smile.

Area recommendations

There is something cool in every area we went to.

Dining

Otto's sausage house was fun. Its on Woodstock near Cesar Chavez Blvd.It's been there forever and the hot dogs and sausages are the best. And of course, try the local beers wherever you go.

Outdoors or beach

If you are into bicycles, hit at least one shop while you are there. The bike culture in Portland is great.

“The Noisey Ice maker”

There was an ice maker across the hall from my room, which was dumping ice all night. This however kept me up all night and I didn't wake up refreshed for my next day business meeting. The accomodatons were great otherwise.

“Reasonable and comfortable”

The hotel is clean, comfortable, in a beautiful setting along the river, and near to the airport and shopping. It has many useful amenities, such as WiFi, but it's a bit slow. Its food is good and the meeting facilities are above average. It's a bit old, and needs sprucing up to gain better reviews.

Area recommendations

Downtown Portland has many walking sites and hundreds of activities. I'd prefer it to the waterfront.
