Pros: Great beds, view, deck (even though mountainside). Very quiet. Big rooms.
Cons: Seems a bit pricey but we love the convenience so we are willing to pay for it. Get really frustrated with the valet parking.
Location: Convenient location to downtown.
We have stayed at River's Edge four times now. We are never disappointed except for it seems over-priced and we get tired of tipping the valets and paying a daily rate for parking when we could walk out the front door of the hotel and get our car ourselves. It is so convenient to downtown without all the chaos of downtown. Love having the riverside trail access right in front to the hotel (use it every day). Have yet to eat at Aquariva but it looks like a nice restaurant. Our daughter lives in Hillsdale in a one-bedroom house so we want to be close to her but can't stay with her so River's Edge fits the bill. The staff is always very cheerful and helpful.

Nice hotel on the river, close to the street carsPosted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: We liked the location and the rooms. The staff was great and the value was good.
Cons: I didn't like paying $25 for the valet parking. The valet attendants, who were all nice and personable, still expect tips so more expensive....
Location: Nice to be on the river but only one restaurant near by. Location is OK if you want to ride the street car which we did but not for walking.
Everything was fine with our stay. There is a nice restaurant next to the hotel on the river. Food is good and service is great. No problems with the hotel.

Great hotel a little away from dowtownPosted Jul 2, 2014
Pros: The river walk.
We stayed here for 4 nights. This hotel is very nice, but it is not near downtown. To go there, one needs to walk 10 min (not very nice walk at night) to get to the streetcar. The good thing is that the tickets for public transportation is $1 per ride or $5 for the day. They have bikes to lend and a complimentary service for taking you into the city, which is very convenient at night. The rest is ok but breakfast is only at the rest so we ended up walking to a Deli to have breakfast every day.

Very Friendly Staff at Hotel!Posted Jun 23, 2014
Pros: Thought the Food for breakfast was Great! Would recommend if you live in area to stop during a bike ride. Best Rollout (Couch) King Bed I have seen!
Cons: Not in walking distance to Bars.. would recommend if your going with friends to do a "Pub Crawl" take a cab or have the driver at hotel take you.
Location: City is close if your taking a cab or have a car. Great for families in that the rooms are big and it is located a short drive from city, zoo, etc..
Room (Deluxe Suite) was Big and roomy! Awesome King Roll Out Bed (I would buy one for home)! Great location if you don't need to be in walking distance to city... if you like to bike or run the river trail is r!ight there... The weight room is as big as my gym at home (very nice)! Didn't use the spa but it looked nice. Fresh Coffee in AM and Flavored Water all Day! Good Touches .. I have stayed at many Hotels in Portland.. this would be a top choice for Families as the Suite is Very Big and provides room for a family of 4... you can still drive down town and walk the city or get to Zoo/Rose Garden with a real easy ride.. Portland is small town geographically so its easy to get around in a car....

Beautiful hidden gem!Posted Jun 17, 2014
Awesome hotel!!! This was our first time in portland and the staff did an amazing job helping us find our way around town, they had a shuttle van to take you into town and pick you up. the transit left us 2 min from the hotel so we dident mind if it was not in the middle of down town .The room was clean and comfortable and a great size, also they are a very eco-friendly hotel. Balcony had a nice view but it dident have much privacy as someone from the next room can easily hop on over to your side. The room had a fireplace that kept us nice and toasty but no fridge or microwave :/. Tv was an old square one .. Would have liked a flat screen in such a nice hotel but we managed. Also had no continental breakfest and the restaraunt next door dident have much selection but there is a spaghetti factory not to far so you may want to go there instead. Overall the hotel did a great job of making our anniversary special and I will definitely be back!

Nice surprisePosted May 25, 2014
Although farther out of town then expected - a 10 min drive. Concierge/ staff were great driving us and picking us up downtown -we just tipped rather then paid cabfare. Staff resolved an issue with our room and gave an upgrade riverside for the remainder of our stay. Beautiful 4 mile riverside walkway paved and quiet. Wouldn't recommend the restaurant associated with hotel - expensive and mediocre. The hotel staff were stellar and the facilities were very good. I think we would prefer staying here then downtown - especially given the cost variance.

Great views. Outstanding service.Posted May 21, 2014
Pros: The location, the service, the attitude of the staff.
Location: I've already mentioned the Willamette walking trial. Portland is a great walking city with lots to do. Don't miss trying some of the local brewpubs!
We had an excellent experience in our two-day stay. While our room was spacious, it was on the side away from the river, so you might want to specifically request a river view. We did, however, enjoy great views from the dining room and the patio. The staff was uniformly pleasant and helpful. A special tribute to the management. We did have a disappointing experience one night at the restaurant. My pork chop was overdone and tough. The waiter even brought two extra knives to help me try to cut it! We mentioned it the next morning to our breakfast server when she asked how we enjoyed dinner. When we returned to our room, we found a hand-written note from the manager thanking us for our candid feedback and telling us he had deleted the dinner from our bill, including the wine and drinks! That's real customer service and a great way to recover from what might have otherwise put a damper on our overall experience.
