Cute boutique hotel in great location

Posted Jul 12, 2014
The accommodations were fantastic. Fully stocked mini-bar with refreshments, beautiful lobby, great bar "Jackknife" attached to the lobby with a fantastic whisky selection and a mean Moscow Mule, centrally located. My only criticism is that after a full night bar-hopping on the town my partner and I were really looking forward to the "24-hour room-service" that was advertised on the website and in the hotel room, but were very disappointed. We were told they only had cold turkey sandwiches left from the restaurant. Ehh...

Nice hotel centrally located

Posted Jun 23, 2014
Very nice hotel and rooms With the exception of one bell captain none of staff knew where any of the sites were located or best ways to walk or drive. The front desk had to look up everything. If they correct this issue I would rate a 4.7

Nice lobby, boring rooms

Posted Jun 22, 2014
Overall, disappointing for the price and the grandness of the lobby. The rooms are ordinary and many look into a dreary courtyard. Boring room fittings and design.

Great hotel 5 minutes to Pineer square

Posted Jun 8, 2014
The hotel is very comfy. I love their Italian beddings! Even it's a historical building, no weird smell at all. And it's really convieniant to stay here, with a dinner place just downstairs.

Great hotel that's pet friendly

We stayed at this hotel along with our dog a 60lb Huskey/shepered cross. It was great, they had no problem with our dog and the staff was really nice. I plan to stay here every time I visit Portland

We are pleased to know that Sentinel is your home away from home when visiting Portland. And, of course, your furry friend is always welcome. Glad to have shared National Pet Month with you. Looking forward to your next visit. Regards, Chris Bebo General Manager

Overpriced with a great view of a brick wall

Posted May 24, 2014
Bathroom door stuck, had to adjust flapper in toilet bowl in the middle of night, had to be contortionist to get to toilet paper, no guide to city or phone book in room, view of a brick wall, small room, elevator out of service, upon check out valet could not be contacted on radio by front desk , until I pointed him out on street talking to cab driver, 1 chair in room. Never will return.

Wonderful hotel at the heart of the city

We had a wonderful experience at the Sentinel. The staff was very attentive and friendly, the hotel itself is beautiful, and the room was extremely comfortable. The hotel being within walking distance of so many things really helped us make the most of our long weekend in Portland.

Going Above and Beyond!

Posted May 6, 2014
Pros: Everything!
Location: Great location and very nice restaurant! Just across the street from the lean-to eateries in the central part of town that are quite a delight!
I was overnighting in Portland to take the beautiful "American Empress" Steamboat on a river cruise tracing part of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. I had left my travel papers on the kitchen counter realizing this upon boarding my flight from Texas. I went to the front desk the next morning, believing if the American Queen Steamboat Company had sent me to overnight in Portland, that surely everyone would know where I'd go to disembark. Well, that just wasn't so; however, with the superior help of the two girls on the front desk, Sarah and Kierra, they made call after call until they hit upon an answer. They tried tracing the disembarkation through the web site and trying to call the company. With no luck and no answers, they called the port authorities in Portland and discovered the disembarkation was in Vancouver, Washington. I panicked thinking I was hundreds of miles from where I needed to be, when they assured me it was just on the other side of the river from where I was situated and it was a matter of ten to fifteen minutes to get there. They politely called a cab for me and wrote the address on a piece of paper for the driver. They made sure I did not get into a cab that didn't know exactly where to take me. It was impressive and reassuring in the service industry that people still care about people. They will always be admired a standard for the industry to admire. The Sentinel is gorgeous and I'd stay again and again. The staff is dynamite!

Fantastic news. It really sounds like Sarah and Kierra went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure you got to where you needed to be. We do have a dynamite staff and these two are shining examples of the lengths we will go to in order to care for our guests. Rest assured, their collective efforts are noticed and appreciated. We hope your cruise went well and look forward to seeing you again the next time you come to visit Portland. Respectfully, Chris Bebo General Manager

Close to down town amenities

Posted Apr 21, 2014
Pros: Starbucks onsite and central location
Cons: Rooms need a desk, a bar fridge and second chair
Location: Shopping, great restaurants, theatre, very walkable
This hotel was conveniently located to restaurants, down town shopping and the theatre. There is a restaurant onsite as well as a Starbucks . The bar was under renos when we were there. There is no concierge which would have been helpful. The King room we upgraded to was clean and bed was comfortable but room and bath were VERY small. There was no bar fridge in the room in spite of having mini bar items available in a cupboard so nothing was cold! We would likely not return to this hotel.
