Clean and comfortable rooms

Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: In addition to previously mentioned amenities, the room was quiet and generous in size. It also had an indoor pool area.
Cons: My only complaint was that there was no waffle batter, orange juice, toast or pastries left when I went to breakfast at 8am during my stay
Location: The Hotel is located near the freeway, yet was quiet. Also there were several restaurants and shops nearby within walking distance.
The Shilo Inn in Salmon Creek is a reasonable hotel with comfortable, clean and well appointed rooms in a great location with nearby restaurants and shopping. The room came with complimentary breakfast, fridge and microwave and the staff was helpful and friendly.

Great value

Posted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: - big clean room - indoor swimming pool open late - friendly, helpful staff at the front counter - good value - quiet
Cons: - the water pressure in the shower was pretty weak. - the water in the shower took an hour to drain
Location: Not close to anything in particular but I liked that it was close to the I-5 yet still quiet, and close to Portland.
I changed my booking to this hotel the morning of the stay because of location and this was a little cheaper than the hotel room I originally booked near the airport, and I was glad I did. My wife was impressed by my choice, a great way to start off our mini-vacation. We drove down from Surrey, B.C. and were going to Portland the next night so this was the perfect location. We got in at 10:30 p.m. so I was glad I didn't have to drive another half hour into town to get to the airport hotel I previously booked. Also, we got to take advantage of the swimming pool which was open until 11. Besides issues with the shower (water pressure, water draining) the only other negative were that my wife didn't find the mattress and pillows comfortable. My son and I had no problems though.

Squeezed in between fast food restaurants.

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Room was large
Cons: Soundproofing
Got in around 9 pm and just wanted to get a good night sleep. We were on 1st floor and starting at about 10:00 pm people overhead ran and walked all night long. Floorboards squeaked with each step and we got no rest or sleep. Noise went on all night long.

Inexpensive but outdated

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Picked this hotel as one of the least expensive options in the Portland area. Decor is rundown and the hallway connecting the rooms smells like old, stale cigarette smoke. However the room was clean and the bed super comfortable. The staff initially told me that their lobby doors lock at 10, so I would need to knock on the door to get in, but when I arrived the door was open and the staff person was very friendly. I'd stay again.

A good value a decent place to stay.

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The breakfast could be better stocked.
Mostly this was a great place to stay. Unfortunately, the "breakfast" was a waste of time. The waffle batter ran out as did the milk for cereal and there were no coffee cups left. And it wasn't time breakfast to be done yet - we still had half an hour. We were told that stock would be refilled until Thursday (this was on Tuesday).

Pool was nice, room clean and well-outfitted. Overall it was restful and clean. At breakfast they ran out of forks, spoons, and trash space. It would be good to have staff checking the breakfast room frequently.

Comfortable hotel, short on staff

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: Central location, close to main highways.
Cons: Cleanliness.
Location: 20min drive to Portland.
Location of hotel is not bad. About 15/20 minute drive to Portland and near places to eat (i.e. Burgerville, Tacobell, etc). There were some ants at our hotel, so, we couldn't leave any food out. There was only one person at front desk helping people check-in and out. This caused a 20minute wait when checking-out. Overall, nice staff though and comfortable stay if it's just for a night or 2.

Okay for a on-the-move one-night stop

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Outdated facilities and very limited breakfast. The decoration is old, 70-ish. It's like a motel.
