Wonderful hotel with a nice south beach vibePosted Sep 6, 2013
More a couples' hotel. Leave the small kids at home. Hotel is going through growing pains....but is trying very hard to up the game in Kennebunkport The hotel staff is good but green. (eg. giving away a reserved table for supper 15 minutes before the resevvation time .....). Give the hotel a little more time to mature...and like a good wine it will get better with time. My wife and I really enjoyed our experience and we have already made reservations at this hotel and there sister hotel The Tides. Enjoy!

Boathouse is centrally located in KennebunkportPosted Sep 4, 2013
Pros: The hotel was clean & superbly located with the great allocated parking. The food in the restaurant was delicious. The roof terrace is lovely too.
Cons: We felt the children were not welcomed, we asked if they could have some plain scrambled egg in the morning, and this was flatly refused, with a 'No'.
Location: Kennebunkport is a lovely seaside town offering whale watching, kayaks as well as lovely quaint shops.
The location of the hotel is fantastic right on the water and in the centre of town with parking. We had children with us, and there was a mistake with the Expedia booking and the room we were offered on arrival. We added 2 children into our search, and Boathouse had several rooms matching our availability. However when we arrived the room allocated had only one bed. Initially the receptionist was reticent about fixing this, for us this was unacceptable as our children are not toddlers, so we cannot all stay in one bed. After checking with her manager she did allocate us a room with a pull-out sofa bed which then unfortunately did not overlook the waterfront which we had booked originally. We made the bed up ourselves and received no apology. This room was cheaper as it was at the back of the hotel, but I had to ask about the difference in price and was told to come back to reception in the morning to sort out. I felt at fault, and the children felt unwelcome. The room was clean and spacious, although tea/coffee etc for only two people. Our whale watching was cancelled, so we decided to take advantage of the free bike hire from their sister hotel. However our youngest couldn't fit on, as they only had one size of bike, weather was a bit cool to use the sister hotel pool too.

We'll Be Back!Posted Jul 28, 2013
Pros: Just about everything.
Cons: Continental breakfast lacking. Breakfast casserole was cold, hard to remove of the pan.Muffins were cold. Attendant was busy gabbing to a co-worker.
Location: Ocean Ave., Restaurants, Pretty walks, sight-seeing, the harbor.
My husband and I stayed for one evening at The Boathouse and definitely enjoyed the experience. The young doormen were friendly and chatty as well as informing us where to park. It was raining and one fellow automatically held an umbrella for me when I was getting into the car...and said very sweetly it was his first day of work. He was off to a great start. Our room was immaculate and very modern. The bathroom amenities which included L Occitane soaps were a treat to use as well as good lighting and a great makeup mirror. We had a cute little Ipod Touch Dock, with a clock and we listened to our downloaded book with it. The hotel location is so close to cute little shops and restaurants that you can leave your car and walk to most places of interest. We will look forward to visiting The Boathouse again.

Great New Hotel..hopefully they maintain itPosted Jun 11, 2013
Pros: location, cleanliness, view from room and from restaurant
Location: 60 second walk from shopping, food, cruises, boat launches. 5 minute drive from beaches. 2.5 miles from Walker Point
We stayed for three nights when the hotel had only been open for 2 weeks. The location was really perfect for those who want to be able to take a 60 second walk from the hotel to the main road with all the shopping and restaurants, boat launches, etc. It is a 2.5 mile jog from the Walker point and only a 5 minute drive to a couple of beaches. The hotel itself was in pristine condition and any nerves we had about a brand new hotel having grand-opening pains were for naught. We happened to be in town the same weekend as the Kennebunkport Food and Wine festival 2013 and one night's festivities were hoted in The Boathouse. The passed hors d'oeuvres were DELICIOUS and the service was fantastic. if i HAD to come up w/ something critical I'd say that the parking situation was a tiny bit inconvenient. All guests have a reserved spot so you ALWAYS have a spot just for you...but the downside (and i told you, this is a reach) is that you have to move a cone out of your spot everytime you want to go in, and put it back every time you go out. That's the worst thing i could come up with! all in all i recommend The Boathouse - hopefully they maintain the quality of service we experienced in their 2nd week of operations.
