Great downtown location
Posted Jan 14, 2013
Pros: Location...the bar is comfortable...the music was very good in the lounge.
Very nice hotel. The room's temperature, as in so many hotel rooms, was difficult to control. It was quite warm. The next morning we had an appointment at 9 am. We called for our car and were disappointed to find that because of the Rose Parade it would take 50 minutes to get. Apparently we were supposed to have been informed by the person who checked us into the hotel the night before. That didn't occur.

Heathman: be sure of what you'tr getting

Pros: restaurant
Cons: room size
Location: ok
Perfectly decent hotel but a bit overvalued price-wise. Booked deluxe king which has a very nice bed, though a little soft, and little room for anything else. If I stayed there in the future, would get something basic. Staff was ok, restaurant very good.

Convenient location but with trade-offs
Posted Jan 20, 2013
Pros: Location
Cons: Noise
Conveniently located hotel in downtown Portland (SW area). Easy to reach from the airport and close to great restaurants, shops, and public transit for destinations that farther away. We did not need to rent a car at all. The downside of the convenience is that the rooms are not very large. Hotel is a historic building that is well appointed but noise is an issue. We can hear every sneeze and cough from the next room. When their alarm clock went off, easily woke us up as well. We literally thought we had set our own alarm by mistake because the sound was so close. In short, good hotel if convenience is important. Not the best place if you are looking to relax and sleep in on your vacation.

Weekend getaway

Pros: Location
Cons: nothing
Location: Easy walk to everything
enjoyed the quiet, sedate atmosphere. Loved the Piano Bar,Library and history of the hotel and found the room service divine. Had two meals in the restaurant and found the staff and quality of service first class as well as the food prices. The location is perfect for enjoying Pioneer Square and great shopping.

Pros: Food,service,and room decor.
Cons: Cramped toliet are in bathroom.
Location: Convienent to other area stores etc.
My sister and I had a great stay at The Heathman Hotel. The restaurant served great food and the service was superb. The only complaint is that the space around the toilet and the door of the bathroom was cramped. We loved the beds!

Great hotel for a weekend get-away
Posted Jan 3, 2013
Pros: Jazz in the bar. Tea kettle in the room.
Cons: I cannot think of anything worth mentioning here
Location: Great central location, all areas of Portland are conveniently accessed by light rail.
We had a great stay here. We enjoyed the jazz in the bar - it was very relaxing to sit there and read a book with the music in the background. The restaurant is also very good. The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly and I appreciated that they didn't hang around for a tip all the time (which of course made me tip more). The only reason I rated the comfort of the room lower is that is was very small, but I think that is to be expected when you are right in the middle of a a city and you don't pay the equivalent of a month's worth of mortgage for a night's worth of stay. If I had to mention one specific thing I didn't like, it was that the sliding door to the bathroom was VERY stiff to operate. But the shower was very comfortable and the room had everything we needed and also some nice things that we enjoyed using, like the tea kettle that allowed us to actually boil water to make tea and coffee (which were also provided). Nice touch!

Pros: quiet, central, nice reception staff
Cons: Suite was small for 4 people; large mirror should not have been resting on the floor but should be hung up!
Location: good
Excellent, comfortable hotel. We did not eat here but there are many restaurants nearby. Valet parking is expensive but parking is available nearby at reasonable rates. Quite central, very helpful reception staff.
