Very pleasing stay close to the beach

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Pleasing d├ęcor and closeness to the beach
Cons: Upgrade the electrical and add more bandwidth for WiFi access.
Location: Higgins Beach is a very easy walk from the Inn. Other venues, Cape Elizabeth with Portland Head light, and Old Orchard Beach are easy drives.
Booked a room late and had to use three different rooms to accommodate my stay. Despite the inconvenience of having to pack up twice the hotel staff was very accommodating and moved our bags into the next room. As pleasing as it was, only one of the rooms was very pleasing. One room had only one outlet and it was not grounded so the extension cord I had could not be used. Another room had only one overhead light and only one outlet. The third room had two outlets, a light next to the bed and one of the outlets was grounded. It also had a medicine cabinet over the sink whereas the other two rooms did not. But despite this I would stay again.

Family reunion.

Posted Aug 16, 2014
We had a good time but the wait staff was really freaked out about me sitting on the veranda waiting for family I hadn't seen for forty years. The hostess said "well I'll let you do it this time". Silly. Next time I will try to o book the Breakers. Not nice although the bill is well over $250 and the tip was worth a few tables.

Wonderfully old fashioned and close to beach

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Old fashioned. Friendly service. Clean and comfortable.
Clean and comfortable. bathroom is down the hall, but I only had to wait my turn once. Plenty of free parking, free newspapers. Breakfast options are quite varied and food is good. Room rates are a bit expensive for what you get, but it's a lovely location and convenient to area attractions.

Nice hotel with an easy walk to the beach.

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Closeness to the beach, ocean waves and seagulls could be heard from the room at night and early morning.
Cons: Regular closet pole instead of just hooks for hanging clothes would have been nice, but there were hangers and I had plenty of room for my clothes.
As advertised, I shared a bathroom with other guests but it was no issue. There was a full bath and a half bath and I never had to wait. Very comfortable room and excellent bed.

Cute, old-fashioned beach hotel

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: It was cute and homie.
Cons: Include breakfast and a blow dryer in each room.
Location: Great beach and beautiful lighthouses in Cape Elizabeth & Portland.
We had a wonderful stay. The beach was a two-minute walk from the hotel. The rooms were very clean and incredibly adorable. I wish the hotel included breakfast, but the restaurant in the hotel had delicious food. The staff was very accommodating.

disappointed

Posted Oct 20, 2013
Pros: It is hard to get pass the disappointment. Our room was very clean, linens were nice.
Cons: Every room needs to have heat and the plumbing should be working properly. There also needs to be more electric outlets.
Location: I thought it was off the beaten path. Couldn't have found it without my GPS.
As I walked down the hall going to my room I felt like I was on a cruise ship. The floors were so uneven. Our room was very clean. We just had a sink in our room and it was stoped up. We had no heat in our room. I didn't go down to breaksfast the next morning because I didn't want to get our of bed because of the cold.

Cozy hotel very close to the beach

Posted Oct 15, 2013
Nice room, friendly staff, and an attached restaurant with good breakfast. The main flaw is that the rooms have no sound insulation. We could hear everything the people in the next room we're saying and they were just talking in a normal voice.

Great hotel with B&B feel

Posted Oct 14, 2013
We had a very nice stay at the Higgins Beach Inn when I was running the Maine Marathon. It was far enough outside of Portland to enjoy ME in October, yet close enough to make the commute in and still make the race starting time at 7:45 am. Great B&B feel with nice bathrooms down the hall. Bed was super comfortable, and my girlfriend and I slept soundly. The restaurant and bar downstairs looked nice, but to be honest, we never ate there since it was a little expensive for our tastes.

Old world courtesy and ambiance

Posted Oct 5, 2013
Pros: Atmosphere, personal care from the owner, beach on minute away
Cons: The bathroom conveniences leave something to be desired
If you're particular about modern conveniences, DON"T stay here. If you insist upon a television in your room, keep going. If you're interested in a memorable experience in a beautiful environment, this is your place! The owner, Bob, takes so much care to make your stay pleasurable. The Inn is a lovely older structure carefully renovated and maintained. The beach is a one minute walk away! I would stay the whole summer here if I could. Most memorable and enjoyable place we stayed; thank you Bob!
