We've never stayed at the same place twice in Portland for the many trips we've taken there, but we'll plan to stay at Northrup again without a doubt. It's location, directly in front of a streetcar stop, made it so easy to get anywhere we wanted to go within the downtown area. The provision of free streetcar passes by the hotel also made transporation costs in the city almost negligible. The hotel itself is located in one of the numerous funky neighborhoods outside of the downtown core, which makes for pleasant walking and exploring, day or night. The neighborhood has several excellent eating options at all price levels, in addition to pubs and grocery stores, including a Trader Joe's for fans. We enjoyed the opportunity of the hotel's rooftop deck every afternoon during a heatwave, to enjoy afternoon refreshments. The room itself was large and spacious, with a fully functional kitchen. The king-sized bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept on. As per our request, the staff conscientiously put us in a room not facing the street, which enabled Zen-like quiet time in the room, even with the balcony door open. The breakfast offering is substantial and delicious, and the lounge it's hosted in is open throughout the day for games supplied by the hotel. Perfect for days of more inclement weather. This is a very special place that was a pleasure to return to every night we stayed.

Room had a good style, not overly done, sliding door to the bathroom was narrow, but fine. It's simple, with a great view of the courtyard below.
The food as I read, is really very good.
The staff was attentive and always opened the door when we entered.
They were helpful with suggestions for the city, and had a great handout with
a list of restaurants available.
Again, the team there was very polite, not scripted which is why I choose these type of Hotels because they're not dry and corporate like so many of their competitors.
They seem genuinely sincere in their casual conversations.

I had the luck of being given an upgraded room in this hotel - what a great experience. Bed, comfy. Bathroom, loads of space. Sitting room, awesome.
The gym had loads of equipment, no water, though. You need to provide water in a gym.
Starbucks is attached as is a wonderful restaurant on the other side of the hotel.
The location is perfect - within walking distance of everything you want from the museum to Chinese gardens to VooDoo Doughnuts...oh, and brew pubs ! Lot's of brew pubs in walking distance.

Clean, comfortable room on the river side. Hotel is only two blocks from the street car line which gives you access to most of the down town area. Staff is friendly and they gave us a ride to our dinner destination, door to door.
My wife and I both had massages at the spa.

I loved Hotel Lucia. The hotel has lots of character, is very comfortable, clean, and quiet and the staff is 5 star accommodating! It is in an ideal location... walking distance to any place you'd like to go in downtown. I would definitely stay there again.
