“Nothing is Overlooked but the Ocean”
This gorgeous hotel lives up to its motto. I stayed for 14 days and truly hated to leave. The hotel is a harmonious mix of Victorian opulence and modern charm. It's setting is spectacular: on the ocean in the front, a beautifully laid out golf course to the side, and a peaceful, formal walled garden in the back. I booked a garden view room for economy, but was assigned an ocean view room when I checked in. I had views of the Port Marnock Beach, its Martello Tower, Ireland's "Eye" (an island),Howth Head and Howth Light which twinkled all night. The room was beautifully furnished: gold walls, burgundy drapes and bed covers. It was quiet always. The hotel has a lovely pub on the ground floor, formerly thelibrary of the Jameson family house. It's wood paneled, floor to ceiling windows, lots of comfy chairs and couches, but the best part is it's a hang out for lots of locals, so you can be at your hotel and still mingle with the natives. They are a friendly and fun bunch, and I miss them already. The Dublin Bus runs right by the hotel, and for 2 euro will take you into city center in about 35 minutes (longer at rush hour). I went into the city just about every day. My room was always perfectly made up when I returned; wake-up calls were always on time, and taxis were waiting at the door if you ordered one from the front desk. I would say the service was excellent. There are 2 lovely restaurants in the hotel and the prices are reasonable for a 4 star facility.
