Expensive and not for families

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: expedia
Location: near portofino
The rates that I paid trough Expedia was more expensive than the rates of the hotel. The rooms are old and the bathrooms with mold and very small. My daughter and myself hit the hip with the heater of the bathroom. It doesn't have parking. The only good thing was the breakfast.

Positive - location was just 5min walk from train/bus station and one street back from the promenade. General Manager was really nice and easy to talk to whilst the other staff were very friendly too with lots of information about how to get around. Negative - though wifi is advertised as available in public areas, it was very slow to connect up.

Cheap hotel, I guess you only get what you pay for

Posted Jul 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
Not a fab hotel, but we booked at the last minute and it was cheap. The room, as did the rest of the building, smelt of cigarettes - really yuk. The breakfast was also disappointing, in terms of food and service.

great location

Only stayed one night and found all to be adequate. The room was very small, the location of the hotel in the centre of town and near the beach was fun and easy. Very friendly and competent staff.

Tucked away

Posted Jul 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is well tucked away, the front door being in the middle of a shopping mall. The staff watched me drag a large bag into the hotel to the lift which they knew I had already dragged to the hotel from the public car park round the corner, no offer of help. The jacuzzi on the roof wasnt working and appeared to have been partly dismantled - a long time ago! It would have been cooler sleeping in the corridor than in the room. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. The bathroom was clean but you had to hang on to the side of the sink to jemmy yourself onto the toilet.

Close to the heart of Rapallo

The hotel staff were not very helpful. The hotel did not have car parking for our rental car and we were left to our devices to try and find a car park in this very busy area and let me tell you it was not easy!

Avoid at all costs

Posted Oct 8, 2011 on Hotels.com
We booked this room because the website said balcony and kitchen facilities. When we arrived and looked at our room, it was tiny, dark and dingy. There was no balcony and no kitchen facilities. We spoke to the receptionist who said we could have the room next door that had a balcony and a tiny fridge and they would supply tea/coffee making facilities. We looked at the room and the 'balcony' was a tiny landing looking out onto the other floors of the hotel - you couldn't even get 2 people out there at the same time. When we complained to the receptionist she said she wasn't responsible for what was printed on the accommodation websites. We told her we didn't want to stay there as it was nothing like what was advertised and she said that was fine but we had paid in full (in advance) and she refused any refund. If you want to stay at a dump with rude unfriendly staff you can't go past Hotel Cavour.

mixed feelings

Posted Dec 2, 2010 on Hotels.com
Our stay at Hotel Cavour was pleasant overall. It was a tad tricky to find, but being away from the noise of a big city made up for it. Our room was clean for the most part, but there was dust on the hardwood floor, and my boyfriend found a few hairs on the comforter. I'm not sure I would recommend this hotel for multiple nights, but for one, it's OK.
