Portofino VisitPosted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: The staff and the location
Cons: I wouldn't book Thursday night in August.
Location: Great location walk to everything.
This little hotel is well located as you can walk to almost anywhere you need to get and if not you can either take the bus or train, the beach across the street is rock not sand so keep that in mind. The hotel staff was fantastic and very helpful. The only downer that I can add is that we had early travel Friday morning and Thursday nights in August there is a DJ at the beach 50 ft. from our balcony with thumping load music until 2 am, this did not make my wife to happy as we only got about 4 hours sleep. Other than that the place is cool and I would recommend, but do check on the schedule of the beach parties before you book, or just join in and party on.

Bustling central location at the beachPosted Jul 12, 2014
Great location to experience Santa Margherita Ligure. Though by no means a new Hotel it makes up for its slightly jaded interior by its location and the very enthusiastic and helpful staff. Fantastic views down the coast and over the beach and port.

Nice hotel with a beautiful viewPosted Jul 1, 2014
Location: There is plenty to do/see/eat in Santa Margherita, but we enjoyed spending a day in Portofino.
We stayed at the Lido Palace Hotel for one week. It was the perfect amount of time to be in Santa Margherita and also visit the surrounding areas. The hotel is built in such a way that all the rooms have a sea view which is really neat. However, because of that, they have a lot of stairs in the rooms and leading to the rooms to stagger them. So there were about 8 steps down to our 1st floor room door then there were a few stairs from the living room area to the bathroom and a few stairs up to the bedroom in the back of the room. It's nice to have separate living and sleeping areas, but the stairs are a bit dangerous if you have small children or difficulty with stairs. We have a 4 year old and 18 month old so it was a bit tricky for us to keep my youngest safe. We ended up keeping chairs across the stairs. Not ideal, but safer than nothing! The staff was very friendly except for a few cranky people at the front desk. For the most part, everyone was nice. They also keep the rooms impeccably clean.

Nicest hotel of our tripPosted Jun 1, 2014
Pros: Location, luxurious rooms
Location: Take the ferry ride to Portofino. Recommended restaurant near hotel: Angolo 48.
The Lido Palace is expensive, but worth every penny. Location is right across the street from a beautiful public beach and a short walk to the ferry to Portofino. Breakfast was superb. Parking is a block down the street in a garage for 25 euros. Just behind the hotel is the pedestrian area loaded with shops, plaza's, restaurants and the beautiful church of Santa Margarita.
