Decent enough for what you pay

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: Close to highway, all rooms are drive up, room has a fridge, Direct TV
Cons: This, like many older properties, wasn't built (likely in 1960's) with the intention of being a "smoke-free" hotel - easy to tell, despite efforts.
Location: Rochester is a nice little city, with easy access to highway - lots of local places to eat, nice parks, and shopping. Minimal traffic flow.
Quick overnight stay on the way to Loudon for the race. Not the newest property, but seemed to have been well maintained. Very well kept grounds, clean pool, and nice trees. If you're looking for a five-star establishment, move on - this isn't it. If you're looking for a decently priced overnight stop, without 6 floors, and paper thin walls, come on down.

It's close to other area attractions

Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: It is close to other area attractions
Cons: Update the room and bathroom
Location: It's close to area restaurants and not a far drive to a beach...
For 140.00 bucks a night this hotel/motel was disappointing. For triple A approved, even more disappointing. The room 125 is small, and out dated, air conditioner is loud, one bed pillows looked like they had been slept on before us arriving, the sheets smelled of smoke and were stained, the bathroom even smaller and very dirty and out dated. We were only there for one night to check out an upcoming event in the area, if there were other vacancy in near by hotels we would of gone to one. So had to stay here as planned. It Isn't worth 140.00 dollars a night.

Very friendly check in. Our room was clean and quiet. They made sure we knew about breakfast and welcomed us when we arrived. Would absolutely visit again.

The hotel was average and tolerable for an overnig

Posted Oct 13, 2014
It was ok. There was a problem with the heat making the room too hot. When I booked the room, it was communicated it was the last room. It did not appear that the rooms were any where near fully booked. ????

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms smelled of stale cigarette smoke, even though it was a smoke free room. We paid way more for this room because it was a race weekend and the room wasn't worth half of what we paid. We couldn't get the shower to turn on so we called the front desk and had someone come down to show us how to do it. They couldn't figure it out either. After messing with it for over 20 minutes I figured it out and then I had to pull a glob of hair from the drain so the water would go down! And I know some rooms at hotels aren't the biggest but for money we paid you would think you would have some room. The room on my last cruise was bigger than this room was!!

Don't refer people here

Pros: Not much
Cons: Most everything
Disappointment started at check-in, I was asked for an ID. In all my years of travel, both personal and business, I have never been asked for ID. The clerk, who I think was the owner, spent several minutes copying the data into a computer. Apparently I passed muster and he allowed us to check in. If I didn't have to change quickly for a function I'd have walked at that point. Room was tiny, barely 18" between the foot of the beds and the wall. Couldn't comfortably wait in the lobby either, several generations of what was apparently the owner's family had that pretty well taken. My adult son was waiting for me in the morning and went to get something to eat in the lobby. He took his plate to a couch to watch the news and was scolded, saying he could not sit there with food.(no signage to that effect). At the function, guests told me something of the reputation of the place but I won't repeat that here, it is hearsay.

Good family hotel at Anchorage Inn Portsmouth

We enjoyed our stay. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We were suppose to stay at the hotel in Rochester but moved to portsmouth. It is 30 minutes more travelling to our grandkids home but it was a good stay.
