Pros: Close to downtown, pleasant breakfast room.
Cons: Mattresses need to be replaced, TV's are from the 90's.
Location: Downtown Portsmouth is great, restaurants, shopping and walking.

Convenient & charming

Posted Oct 10, 2013
Pros: Rooms are nicely decorated and furnished...and spacious.
A charmingly restored old mansion conveniently (and quietly) located just a couple of blocks from the main business district. Easy to walk to all the main attractions from this hotel.

Great location and price but uncomfortable beds

Posted Mar 26, 2013
Pros: Beautiful old hotel in great location
Cons: Bed
Charming old hotel with lots of character in the middle of downtown Portsmouth. I would recommend for the location and the price. The beds are springy, squeaky and uncomfortable. I can forgive almost anything with Hotels but don’t cheap out on the beds.

Sise Inn, a special place in Portsmouth, NH!

Posted Sep 5, 2012
When I checked in, I met Dale and her husband who friendly and immediately made me feel welcomed and special! While I had already made dinner reservations, she confirmed I had selected well and went to give me a full list of great things to do while in Portsmouth. She mapped an awesome bike route and highlighted all of the major happenings that evening! The facilities were in tip top shape, clean and very comfortable. The next morning,I met an equally warm and friendly host. Breakfast was plentiful and offered a nice variety. I would not considering staying any other place than at the Sise Inn whenever I return to Portsmouth, NH.

Bigger than B&B but more personable than Hotel

Posted Sep 4, 2012
Location location location. Can't beat that with this easy walk around downtown Portsmouth or drive to the beach in 10 minutes. Staff was very helpful with any requests or questions. Our particular room was a bit too close to reception, but that only caused the noise level to be a bit high mid-day when we were seldom in the room anyway. The great little place is larger than a B&B but this converted mansion and friendly staff still gives that small feeling that you don't get from larger hotels. Plan to come back to the town and hotel some time soon.

great location

Very convenient to historic commercial area with restaurants and shops. A bit pricey. Breakfast was ordinary--just standard continental fare. Elevator was a nice addition.

B&R love Sise Inn

Posted Sep 9, 2010
We found the Sise Inn on line and decided to take a chance on it. It was more than we expected, and we will probably become regular visitors to the Inn. The building is gorgeous, perfectly maintained, and the rooms are clean, classy and comfortable.

More like an average motel

Posted Sep 2, 2010
Besides the outside of the inn, the inside was more like a mediocre motel. the bed in the room squeaked SO LOUDLY each time i moved, i woke my husband up constantly, and he woke me as well. the chairs looked worn out and ugly - not in an "antique" or "charming" way. the breakfast is what you'd find in a marriott courtyard, which is fine as long as your not expecting a cute "B&B" experience w/ a cooked meal. overall, i would not stay here again unless they do a major upgrade of the beds and furniture in the rooms.
