Clean and comfortable. TV was a bit fuzzy and I nearly ran out of toilet paper, otherwise the room was great. Breakfast was a nice bonus and staff was friendly. Would completely recommend.

Pleasant

Nice setting, breakfast and happy hour. Some 1:30am noise from other guests above, but quickly resolved by staff. Convenient to town and some Catskills activities.

Beautiful neighborhood and close to Route 9.

Posted Jun 21, 2014
Pros: We liked the proximity to Route 9 yet the secluded location. The room was immaculate and the bed extremely comfortable.
Cons: Phones were out of order and one of the TVs was not functional.
Location: Near Route 9, accessible to shopping yet private. Near Vassar as well. Just a few miles from Hyde Park and Rhinebeck.
We decided on Poughkeepsie as our hotel destination so that we could enjoy the Walk Over the Hudson and be just a few miles from Hyde Park. The staff were friendly and helpful, complementary wine and beer were offered for two hours, and we were able to sit outside with a view of the water.

Great hotel with nice view!

Posted Jun 20, 2014
Pros: Great staff, free wine and beer, free breakfast.
Cons: Bathroom was weird. There was a door to separate the toilet and the shower. I don't think you need the door there.
Location: We went to a Japanese restaurant near by which was surprisingly nice.
We truly enjoyed our stay there, with a great view (water fall behind the hotel, there were geese outside, very pleasant), free wine and beer. Free breakfast was wonderful plus. The bathroom was a little weirdly designed.

Difficult to find if you don't know the area.

Posted Jun 20, 2014
Pros: Hotel is in nice setting on banks of a wide stream and a small waterfall.
Once checked in, we had a good overall experience. Breakfast room is very nice with lots of eating. Breakfast, itself was good. Rooms, carpeting, etc., a little tired, but good value for the price.

Hi Ron I am surprised at the comment about the carpet. Would you mind calling the hotel 845-462-5770 and tell me which room you were in? We inspect all our rooms on a regular basis, I need to see if we are missing something you saw. Happy you enjoyed the rest of your stay.

Convenient stopover for us. Best to use your GPS

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Pros: Good Best Western, pleasant and helpful staff.
Cons: The pillows were not comfortable. The directions to the hotel as listed in the AAA booklet were not as clear as they could be.
Location: There are many historical sites near Poughkeepsie. We didn't linger the next day since we had to be in NYC that day.
We stayed for one night only because we were on a road trip with friends of ours from Australia. Jeff who was on duty at the front desk was extremely helpful in giving us directions when we had difficulty finding the hotel. He was also very pleasant and offered information about things to do in the area. We had a good night's sleep. Our only complaint is that the pillows are not comfy - they were kind of lumpy and hard. Other than that every thing was fine and dandy. Oh yes, one other thing - the directions in the AAA book were not as clear as they could be and luckily Jeff on the front desk was able to give us good directions.

Like a little hideaway

Posted Jun 15, 2014
Pros: Room was comfortable and of good size. Front-desk people were quite helpful.
Location: Hotel is several miles from the Vanderbilt Mansion, the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), and the F. D. Roosevelt estate.
As you go onto the hotel property, there's an arch that's reminiscent of a monastery or a vineyard entry. Pleasant wooded grounds. Provided free services, e.g., a computer and printer, wi-fi. Free breakfast, which included microwavable breakfast sandwiches and waffles (from a make-it-yourself griddle), was substantially better than the breakfasts found in most other hotels.

Nice hotel on a beautiful stream

Posted Jun 5, 2014
Cons: hey have a cocktail lounge, but it is pretty small and uninviting. But they do have one...
Location: Not a lot to do unless you like beautiful countryside to drive, walk, hike, etc. Close to Vassar.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. Our room overlooked Wappinger Creek. Very pretty. Hotel was quiet. Breakfast in the morning was good by continental breakfast standards. Good value, close to Vassar and Poughkeepsie sights.

Comfort and Convenience

Posted Apr 21, 2014
Pros: Clean, pleasant staff, good towels and shower, good breakfast. Overall good experience.
Cons: Fitness facilities should be enlarged. Pillows were a little hard.
Very nice hotel, conveniently located to my destination, clean, quiet and comfortable. Nice fridge in room, good towels, comfortable and pleasant space, good breakfast. Fitness facilities could be improved-room was VERY small, but at least there was a fitness room. Better than other similarly priced hotels nearby. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
