Nice gem of a place and food very good
Staff absolutely fantastic - room was hot due to radiator on all the time and though turned off, was still on. Opened a window that helped and there was a fan in the room so bearable. Had requested double but got a twin - wasn't that fussed so didn't bother asking if could change. Overall would recommend for sure - location great.

Fantastic pub with all the charms required. Staff were lovely and friendly and I had one of the best evening meals I have ever had here! Great location close to the Elan valley, quirky little shops and everything you could need for a lovely night away. Downside, there is only pay and display parking a street away & breakfast is served in the bistro also a street away. The rooms are basic and up a flight of stairs but I would still recommend a stay here.

Great location to explore Elan Valley.
The perfect location to explore the valley. The team were friendly and helpful. The accommodation needs updating is in a pub, so not great if you go to bed early as it can be a bit noisy, however, if you enjoy a drink and good food until closing time then it's perfect. The food served in the pub was delicious.

From the owners to all of their staff they were all very welcoming and friendly. Food was excellent value. Our room was good adequate for what we wanted as we were visiting the Royal Welsh show so not in our room very much. Bedding was very clean.

The staff were lovely and welcoming but unfortunately couldn’t fit us in for dinner but that was our fault for not pre booking. The room was really small but not a problem but the cleanliness was disgusting. The bathroom had use toilet tissue down the side of it, public hairs and fluff all on the floor and the shower wasn’t as clean as it could have been. Also the draws to the bedside cabinet were broken so unusable.

There was no parking at The Crown Inn, which wasn't highlighted when making the booking. There was no parking nearby, so we had to park on the street, several minutes walk away The room was small, the ensuite bathroom was tiny, it wasn't clean. The rooms were in a separate building, accessed by steep external, open backed steps, which were unsafe and icy in the morning, when we left. We had booked to stay with our dog and were greeted on arrival by a staff member who said 'Oh, he's a big dog, don't think he'll fit in the room!' We had requested a table, in advance, for 7:30pm, via email and were told on arrival that they didn't have the message and had no tables until 8:00pm. In the end we were able to locate a table that was vacated around 7pm and sit there. The food was prepared in advance, and had obviously been hanging around for a while and wasn't very nice.

Staff were friendly and accommodating, had an evening meal that was brilliant. The room was clean and tidy. The cold tap in the bathroom didn't work which made washing hands difficult due to the hot water tap getting very hot very quickly but we were given water for drinking and able to use to brush teeth. Unfortunately the noise from the bar below was very loud, the sound of people talking loudly and general bar noise travelled through the floor to the point where you could basically hear what people were talking about. My partner and kids struggled to get to sleep due to the noise. Couldn't find anyone in charge in the morning to check out so had to lock the door and post the key through the letterbox.

*The only good thing was the attitude of the staff - very friendly. No free parking as stated, had to use pay & display away from premises. Cleanliness of the room was non-existent even without the current Covid-19 situation, no hand sanitizer see anywhere. No hoovering, dirty mugs, tea drip marks on furniture. Marks on bed throw overs. Dirty pillow cases over a yellow pillow. Bed not fit for purpose. Grime in grained around major touch areas. Didn't stay but was promised a full refund, but waiting on that one.

No wi-fi at hotel when clearly stated there was and we paid accordingly. I am self employed so need wi-fi and my partner is visiting from the Philippines and has a sick relative that she needs to be in constant contact with !! Were not told when checking in and had to call reception after many attempts to log in 😟 Tv only had two channels ..... so overall a bad experience

Spacious with a separate room for the children. Staff were lovely and friendly. It was noisy though with the extractor fan for the kitchen going until late and voices from the bar below. Once this was quiet I had a lovely sleep.

The hotel was in a perfect location, very near the memorial clock.Our twin room was compact and very clean. The mattresses were rather thin and uncomfortable, also the constant noise from the road kept us awake for most of the night. The reason for our choice of hotel was the distance to gigrin farm to watch the red kite feeding - Amazing

Great food, good hotel.
Friendly staff and amazing food. The vegan pot pie was literally the best meal I have had in years, and I am not even vegan! The toilet was really a pain, easily clogged and would run non-stop sometimes. I am never one to complain that something is "old" but really would have loved a new toilet.

Good looking hotel in centre of town
Friendly and efficient bar staff and good food at reasonable prices. Bedroom small but adequate although carpet was dirty and needs replacement. Tiny shower room with loo that would not stop flushing, hot tap on basin that shot water onto the floor and no towel rail. Definitely needs updating, Lighting in both bedroom and shower room need improving

A bit of a disappointment.
A bit of a disappointment it was extremely hot weather 30+ and you couldn't have the window open because of the very noisy kitchen extractor, which was turned off at 10 pm when the kitchen closed. Then through the night when we had the window open the refrigeration compressors would start up. The hot tap in the bathroom was loose and turned around every time you used it, the TV remote didn't work. I know that it was so very hot and any other time the noise wouldn't be such an issue' but I do feel that the management should pay a bit of attention to things like taps & TV remotes. And they run out of Guinness.

I booked a one night stay at the Crown Inn at Rhayader for my wife and I as we love the area. We have stayed at different venues in the past but this one come up first when looking to book room b&b. The room itself was small, the bathroom small but useable, no towel rail. When i booked it was stated that breakfast was free and that the rooms had free wifi. No signal for wifi and no breakfast, this was extra as it was at a different location. I got hardly any sleep due to noise from pub and people having a cigarette just below our window, our mattress was really uncomfortable so did not get a good sleep. I would not recommend to anyone, they need to stop advertising free breakfast and wifi as you get neither. We booked through Expedia and that process was quick and simple. Staff were very nice.

Staff excellent. room very few places for storage.shower room no towel rail. Drink facility situated on the floor really not practical generally not comforting or welcoming. Sleep difficult to come by as an outside door continued banging all night.not good. Food excellent.

Very good value for money
The rooms was quite acceptable and the bed was rally comfortable. Like may cheap hotels the shower was quite feeble and the TV in the room was small and had lots of interference. The pub itself is lovely and the food is fine - I found myself in a leather armchair by the fireplace which was delightful, all that was missing was a wet dog. Breakfast is across the road and is generous and very good. Excellent value for money - if you want to stay in your room all day this is not the place for you but as a base this is a great place

Nice pub, people friendly, rooms basic but priced according clean and tidy. Disappointing was 1am below our window is a bench and the noise was very load went on for hour and half till 2.30am . Not sure if it was people from the pub or locals. Breakfast was lovely the stay was a mixed bag for us 6/10

Could have been great but....
Lots of positives. Lovely room, cosy pob, great food & friendly atmosphere. However we were kept awake until after 1am by a group including staff sat outside below our bedroom calling to each other along the allley and slamming doors. Then just before 7am the hotel had a delivery and a metal trolley was pushed up and down the alley under the bedroom windows for about 20 mins. So all in all we had very little sleep and ended up leaving before half 7 to carry on our journey.

Found the room to be a little on the small side, and the bathroom very cramped, unfortunately I found the bedstead to be thick with dust along with the bed side tables, and the ' table' for the tea and coffee station very small and dirty, we ate in the crown on Saturday evening which was a lovely meal very generous portions and fairly priced,the staff were helpful, polite and welcoming, but I do think it should state when you book that breakfast is not served on site, it is served across the road at ty Morgan's, which was a nice breakfast

Great for a stop-over
Very convenient stop-over for visiting Gigrin Farm to see the Red Kites. A small number of rooms but more than adequate for an overnight stop, clean and comfortable. Breakfast provided at a Ty Morgans which is just round the corner and was excellent.
