“Incredible experience!”

We spent the first 3 nights in Prague at the Palace Hotel which was beautiful. We then spent 4 nights at the Boat Hotel Matylda. The service was exceptional. The hotel restaurant was delicious. We asked the hotel if they would pack a breakfast for us to take to the airport for a very early departure. A lovely breakfast was waiting for us at 5am. The hotel also had a staff member take us to the airport. The room we had overlooked the river and you could see the palace thru the french doors. We would highly recommend the Boat Hotel Matylda. Do ask for a room on the river side of the boat.

“Unique Prague Charm”

You will be over the moon with your stay here! The staff are all very friendly, knowledgeable and good humored. The room was small, I was on a boat of after all, but I had a wonderful view of the river, swans and ducks come around most mornings and it's easy walking distance to most main attractions. The food at the restaurant is delicious and the wine selection superb! I will be hard pressed to stay anywhere else whenever I go to Prague! Top notch!

Area recommendations
Explore all the hot spots of course: Charles Bridge, Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral.... do also take the time to explore the area under the Charles Bridge, the local parks where you will find unique art and also take the train to Kutná Hora to experience the Bone Church (Sedlec Ossuary) as well as the stunningly gothic St. Barbara's Church!
Getting around
Public transit in Prague is very well organized. Between the Motro (subway), trams, trains and buses you can easily get anywhere you need to go.
What to pack
Sturdy sturdy sturdy walking shoes! Ankle support isn't a bad feature to have. The streets are all paved with cobblestones which vary in size, height and spacing and for those not used to walking on them it can result in leg pain, swollen tired feet and blisters... take my word for it! If you are able to comfortably walk on these surfaces without pain then you can focus on all the awesome things your seeing and not on the burning desire to sit down!
Shopping
There are of course a million shops selling mostly the same things, but some gifts are still worth getting there like Czech glass jewelry and unique scarves. You will see Russian souvenirs everywhere like the nesting dolls, and while they are beautiful, remember you're not in Russia so something Czech might be a better gift. If you like flea markets don't miss the market on Kolbenova which is open Saturday and Sunday or Riverbank in Prague - Center which is on the end of the Parizska street - na Frantisku. It is on the riverbank under the Cechovo bridge where all ships start and land. This is a smaller market but treasures are to be found.

“Mathylda boat hotel - Prague”

Lovely hotel, but they have a small spider problem in the lower level of the boat. As ofr the upper deck, it is extremely lovely.

“Great experience”

When you walk into a new city, you can only hope you find helpful people around you. At hotel Matylda, the best feature is easily the staff. Super helpful, very friendly, and genuinely interested in helping you out. Thanks guys... The hotel was a novelty for me. And I really enjoyed my stay. The location was quite convenient, and therefore made exploration of Prague easy. Will definitely stay here again if I go back to Prague...

“five stars *****”

Boat Hotel Matylda was my dream come true. I had a quiet, clean room that served as a refuge when I needed it from the tourist crowds. It's in a location that was in the center of everything: all the bridges, all the restaurants and shops and museums. Be sure to rent a bike and follow the bike path out of town: you'll love the country side. The daily brunch was delicious. The staff was knowledgeable and very helpful. I stayed a week and loved it...you will too.

Area recommendations
You''ll spend time (lots of it!) on the Karlova bridge, which is a ten minute walk from the boat because of the great live music and views of the Castle. Also, Wensaslaus Square and the Old part of town and Jewish Quarter. I walked about four hours a day and found nearly everything interesting. Also, take a bike ride out of town - the green bike path follows the river for about ten miles. If you love to walk this is the place to come - just wander down alley ways randomly - you never know what you will stumble upon...Comparable walking cities: Venice, Kathmandu, San Francisco, Quito, Rothenburg, Kowloon, Bangkok, Varanasi, Savannah.
Getting around
On foot in Prague, on bike to see the country side (Boat Hotel Matylda has bikes for rent).

“Great for Couples”

I booked this hotel because I thought that it would be an interesting experience. The hotel was very beautiful (theres actually two boats) and the restaurant was very nice. Our room was at European normal the bathroom was REALLY small but we only stayed one night so it didnt matter (though every time that I flushed the toilet or took a shower I felt like I was waking the whole hotel). The BOTEL (what they called in Prague) did not rock with the waves which is something I was concerned about. The best part of the hotel was the service. We couldnt check in until late because we actually had a hard time finding the hotel.Because it was a boat it could only give us the street it was located off of and that street ran between two bridges. Well if you have the smart idea like my husband and I to drive along the river until you find it youre out of luck because the road was under construction and you cant see the botel from the road :) But they were really nice and understanding and the restaurant was closing and they still allowed us to order food. The continental breakfast was great and when I saw some brochures for tours you could book the tour right there at the front desk!! It was incredible. Also you can park in front of the hotel which is awesome because parking is actually IMPOSSIBLE to find and if you do find it its probably a trick because you have to have a pass to park there. And youll get towed. All around amazing food, service, and hotel. Cant wait to go back!

Area recommendations
You can see the Prague Castle and the Charles Bridge from the restaurant which is beautiful. And its a nice walk to the bridge from the botel. All of Prague was great. I guess my favorite would be the Astronomical Clock. If you have a short amount of time like we did I would recommend that you book a tour through the tour company at the hotel. We took the one with the yellow umbrella and it was 6 hours long and we saw EVERYTHING. It included a river tour and a tram up to the castle as well and you got free tickets to the ghost tour. The price was extremely resasonable as well. If you have a car I would highly recommend going to Nizbor which is about a 30 minute drive total. They had the most amazing prices on crystal and you can take a tour where they show you how they engrave it. If you just put Nizbor in your GPS the factory is actually most of the town. You cant miss it. Also Nizbor is on the way to Pilzen and we went to the brewery and on the tour. It was the best brewery tour we have ever been on and for us living in Germany thats saying alot (the front desk clerk actually was the one who told us about it and we wouldnt have even known about it without him) They also have the Patton museum and the memorial dedicated to Americans for the liberation after WW2. It was very insightful.
When to go
We went in May and it was beautiful and sunny but also a cool breeze which helps when you are walking.
Getting there
We drove. All the hotels we booked had secured parking available. Spring for the extra money when parking in a secured garage. Car theft is very big in Prague.
Getting around
The only time we used the tram was to get to the Prague castle. And then we strolled down and ended at the Charles Bridge. Every section is connected. Take the time to walk and experience the culture.
Shopping
Have some locals recommend to you where to get authentic crystal and garnets. I got a certified garnet ring from a jeweler a block from the Astronmical Clock and it was a high end place but at least I knew I was paying for the real thing. Also I would not recommend getting the crystal in Prague. If you have the time go outside the city. Price wise you will save a lot of money. And get better quality.
Dining
If you eat near the square you will pay more than you should. The restaurants that have a view of the clock was very expensive. But places in between the sections that serve the traditional Czech dish were worth the price.
Nightlife
Theres a coyote bar, yes the one where the bartenders dance on the bar, and they took Euros, Czech Krowns, and American money! We started there and ended at an Irish Pub near the charles bridge.
Events and shows
They have these black light shows that are popular in Prague. I didnt get a chance to see one but when I go back I want to see it. That was the most unique show that I saw that was offered.

“Picturesque Prague”

What a fantastic experience! Not only was the Boat Hotel one of the coolest places I've stayed, the surroundings could not have been any more picturesque. If you are a nature person, so cool to see the swans and ducks right outside your window each morning. Would recommend to anyone. Great location.

Area recommendations
Prague was such and unexpected surprise. I beauty of the city never ended. From one street to the next, unbelieveable architecture. My advice...put on some comfy walking shoes and get out there!

“couldn't have asked for more”

after reading a couple of reviews of this hotel I was getting really excited. It all sounded so lovely and it was!!! The location was ideal, the view gorgeous, the room (it is worth to pay the little extra for the superior) was really charming and when opening the french windows, looking out over the river, the swans coming to say hello, it was almost impossible to leave the room, we could just lay on the bed the whole day just watching the old city and sunset. The restaurant was also really good. Next time in Prague definitely same hotel again.
