“A cool neighborhood hotel”
If you like to "live as the locals" when you travel, Claris is the place for you. It is located in Vinohrady, an area of Prague that is slightly far from the most touristy places and quickly emerging as a destination for sophistaced urbanites. The hotel is very basic: comfortable bed, nice and clean bathreoom and friendly concierges who are fluent in English and can answer a lot of questions. Breakfast (included) was maybe too basic for this nice hotel, but just across the srreet there is a shopping center with a great cafe. There is also plenty of moderately priced restaurants, some with tables on the sidewalks. All waiters spoke basic English and were very helpful. I was able to have a great dinner for 200-300 crowns, which I thought was a steal. Finally, if you are a gay traveler, this hotel is perfectly located to go out to gay clubs, with several of the major bars/clubs 1-2 bl.ocks away from the hotel. The neighborhood is also mixed and I saw a few gay couples holding hands in the street, which is a cool thing. There must be quite a few artists in the area as people were dressed in sort of the interesting new york crazy attires that people with an edgy taste use. To clarify. In NY lingo more Soho than East Village. All in all I would recommend this hotel to someone that likes to be slightly away from the center of action (yet 5 minutes in the tram) and who can use the hotel as literally a room, with most services (food, spa, others) outsourced.
“Good price and close to the metro station. Nothing else.”
You wouldnt believe that the entrance is the entrance of a hotel. Is completely dark at night, and you need to cross a big dark hall to see if the real entrance finally appears. We even thought it was a joke. They didnt have telephone service when we stayed. The internet was not working well, either. 3 Blocks far from the metro station Namesti Miru, wich takes you to the historic centre of Prague easy and fast. Be careful with the quantity of beds they offer you, because I booked for 3 persons and Expedia or I dont know who, gave me 2 twin beds placed together and never told me they would charge me an extra bed , when we arrived. Wich was not fair, because when Expedia or the reservation department of the hotel know that the number of persons exceed the maximum occupancy of the room, they usually tell u, but not this time. So I wanted to complain and they didnt have telephone service, like to call Expedia or the reservation department of the hotel. Finally everything was solved, but it feels terrible when u arrive so tired, from flying from so far, to Prague. The rest is fine. The guys in the deskfront are kind. Good simple breakfast with yoghurt, eggs, bread, milk, "juice", meats, etc. I mean, an European breakfast.
“Good Hotel”
The hotel is very nice, staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. too bad the parking is too small and you have to make a reservation to park there. location isnt bad for the money.
“One of the best friendly hotels I've seen in Europe!”
Nice friendly place! The staff were very helpful; I got my room much earlier than the "check-in" time which was just what I needed after a night on the train! Rooms are clean and well-maintained. Breakfast was served on a cozy terrace, but a bit small for the number of people that stayed there. The location of the hotel is excellent! You can actually walk to some famous places in town. I definitely recommend this hotel!
“Pleasant staff and nice breakfast. Small rooms, so pack light!”
The staff was quite pleasant, but often hard to wake up to let us in at 4am when we returned from a night of disco dancing ;-) Rooms were very clean and the maid service was great. If you get a really good rate on this hotel in comparison to others of the same standard, do stay here. Nice location.
“I'd go back”
Hotel staff were helpful with everything from early check-in to directions throughout and outside of the city. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was an easy walk from the local subway stop and had several delicious, well-priced restaurants nearby. The main tourist attractions in Old Town were only a few stops away on the subway, or within walking distance for adventurous spirits.
