“Close to the castle”
Hotel Neruda was a great place to stay so long as they don't stick you with the windowless rooms in the centre of the hotel... very claustrophobic. The hotel is steps from the Prague Castle and St. Vitus's, only a 10 minute walk to the Charles bridge and a 20 minute walk to the Old Town Square. Perfect location if you're looking to stroll throught the picturesque streets of Prague. The hotel breakfast was excellent every day and different every day which was very nice. We did eat in the hotel for dinner as well and the food was also very good, we especially liked their sandwiches which took traditional Czech dishes and turned them into up market Paninis. All in all a great stay once you have windows to look out.
“Great service, but room a big disappointment”
The positives: service is great, location ideal, included breakfast very good. However, the overall experience didn't live up to my expectations because the room itself was at odds with everything else in the hotel. 1) Poor ventilation - the vent equipment in the room was useless, the window tiny and leading to a very small space. Despite keeping the vent unit going and the window open all day, the room was a steamer (while it was fleece weather outside), stuffy and dark. Staff said nothing could be done because the building is very old. 2) Poor lighting - with all lights on, the room was still a cave. Only the bathroom was adequately lit. 3) Poor maintenance (at least in room 108) - a glass panel between the room and bathroom was missing. Not a big deal if you travel alone and privacy is not an issue; however I stabbed a toe against the empty metal frame more than once. Staff's explanation: "oh yes, it broke". 4) Misfitting bedsheets - bedding was generally nice, except that the bottom sheet was too short resulting in about 5 inches of exposed mattress under the pillow. Bedding is European style (bottom sheet and comforter with no top sheet) so in a steamy room the only choice was to sleep completely uncovered. Aside from the essentials above, the cement-finish walls accentuate the cave feeling, there's no full-size mirror , and the furnishings (aside from the lovely wooden headboard) feel too cheap for a "Design and Style" hotel.
“Not impressed”
-Price of Minibar is 20 times more what you can buy outside (i did, i know) -Price of the room is very expensive and despite of this you can not park your car for free -No change in the breakfast during all the week - (always the same low quality jam, ...) -Direct transfer managed threw the hotel was even more expensive than usual taxi
“Would definately go back”
The hotel was exactly as we expected it to be. It was in a beautiful location right near Prague Castle. The hotel was also a short walk to the Charles River Bridge and all public transportation. The hotel has a beautiful design and the rooms were very unique. We would love to go back here once a year, especially during the month of December. This is now one of our most favorite places.
“Great service!”
Positive: confortable beds and pillow, clean room, quiet street, very close to the castle, nice space in the room for two people, nice breakfast, fantastic staff at front desk and at breakfast (Monia from the front desk was really great with us and gave us fantastic tips about places to go and good/cheap restaurants) Negative: the hotel is near the castle but far from other touristic atractions. It's in the top of a hill and there's no public transportation (only taxi)so be ready to walk a lot and get in shape! There wasn't enough illumination in the room so we couldn't even see what was inside the wardrobe. Also the bath curtain was really small so everyday we had a little Everglades in our bathroom.
“Disappointing”
This hotel should be a one- or two-star hotel, at best. The room was incredibly small (one had to turn sideways to move across it), the air conditioning worked very poorly (despite the staff's attempt to fix it), and the shower was very poorly designed. The two positives were an excellent breakfast buffet and a location that was good for getting to all the major tourist areas. Also, the staff was friendly and attempted to be helpful. Overall, however, a very disappointing experience.
“20 Yards from Prague Castle”
Although the bed was not the comfiest I've ever had, it's hard to beat the location of this hotel (right around the corner from Prague Castle and the amazing St. Vitus Cathedral). The daytime receptionist is extremely helpful and speaks good English, and the breakfast buffet is quite tasty!
