Apartmentbuilding half-way turned into hotel

Posted May 29, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel emailed me to ask about my arrival time a week before arrival to have English speaking staff on site. Unfortunately I arrived a few hours early and before check-in time. After arriving at the hotel we arrive at a locked-door. After several time pushing the doorbell someone leaving the hotel let us in. We found a lade at the reception in the basement that did not speak english. She called her english speking colleague and explained that only one of two rooms was available, however what she said was going to happen was not the same as the receptionist did (but for our benefit). The hotelroom is big and nice, but very outdated. The hotelroom are clean, but I on one night received a very dirty towel even after leaving a good tip. The beds are rock hard. The breakfast items did not seem fresh. The hotel is in a nice local area outside just outside of downtown, just want we wanted. This hotel could be better if they was able to make the whole building into hotel (today is just basement, 3rd and 5th floor) so they could have a 24hr english speaking staff. The service at the hotel is good, but sometime complicated by language barriers. Would I stay here again? I would not mind it, but I probably will check for other hotels in a little higher price range.

very nice & informative manager, great breakfast

Not in the middle of things but easy walk there. Quiet neighbourhood away from noisy tourists. Breakfast included was tasty. A bit old and worn, but we like supporting small, local enterprises and were satisfied with cleanliness and appreciated attentive staff. (internet included free with room too).

Overall OK but no luggage storage service.

Location is a bit out of the main town, but still within walking distance. The staff is unfriendly and the hotel doesn't provide the storage for luggage after check-out.

Pros: I was late booking in and the member of staff i was welcomed by was very helpful, breakfast was good, wide range and choice. Room was good size
Cons: Cleanliness, towels, bedsheets, also if you prefer cash payment say so in advance, Ask cleaners to be more considerate at 5am. 3/4nights i was woken.
Location: Good building, great location, even at 10pm i was easily able to find it. Some good local pubs, great beer and food available.
A rather disappointing start to the holiday for the price really. After four nights in the hotel i had 8 nights on 3 different friends sofas which were cleaner. Hairs in bed, 2 dirty towels, which when left on the floor as instructed to be changed, were found folded back on the table, luckily i had booked a double room and there were 4 towels. Woken by the cleaner at 5am on 3/4 nights. Building was fine, the room quality bar the gripes was lovely, although two single matresses doesnt make a double, a waste of half the bed or an uncomfortable nights sleep. A great location, easy to find. Good tram connections and close to a Metro stop. I was able to walk to all destinations, but was prepared and had the time to do so. I didn't complain, because im not one too, but was disappointed. A shame really but i couldnt recommend for a friend to stay here on this visit. Ive stayed in other, more hostel style locations in Prague which were cleaner.

The location of the Klara Hotel in Prague was acceptable. The room setting was poor with low ceiling and smelly on both the two nights I was there. The shower head could not be wall mounted and had to be hand held. Any one using the toilet kept waking me up throughout the night. There was no one of hotel staff throughout the day and rarely one spoke English. Luckily I was able to speak Russian with one of the Russian staff. The room furniture was poor; bed was uncomfortable. Their parking arrangement was good. They had no facility to pay the bill by credit card - only cash, either local or Euro. Rumour had it that they lost the credit card facility. Breakfast was basic; no bacon or no scrambled eggs, no sausages, no toaster and the coffee tasted bad. First night woken up at 0300 hours with noisy hotel neighbours. Second night woken up at 0520 hours by non hotel neighbours. on the same floor. They tried to over charge us but relented after showing them my booking in paper form. I don't think I will be desperate to stay at this hotel again. Highly over rated for a 3 Star. Perhaps worth 1 Star!

I love the location and the price. It was clean and I would definitely stay there again. They wanted me to pay in cash, which I wasn't prepared for and had to exchange some additional funds. Breakfast was really good. Lots of variety and LOTS. Internet was okay. Connection quality was often not good enough for WIFI-calling.

Great cheap option

Location: Excellent proximity to sights and metro.
Hotel Klara is a good option at the cheaper end of Prague accommodation. Its a 5 minute walk to the local metro (subway) station and there are a few mini-markets, pubs and restaurants within a 5 minute walking radius. Security of the hotel is excellent (you get given 3 keys for 3 locks!). Staff are friendly. The room is basic but clean and comfy. The ensuite bathroom is small but clean and adequate. The breakfast is typically European with the usual platters of ham, salami, cheese and bread (no toaster though), cereals, yoghurts, jams, and a small number of swiss rolls. Its help yourself. Overall a good budget option. Don't expect fancy, but you won't spend the earth either. I recommend to budget conscious travellers.
