“Location & Service great for the price!”

This hotel's location is about a 30 min. tram to subway ride away from the downtown. It is perfect if you are drivig from Germany. A guarded parking lot is provided. The breakfast was the traditional Czech foods. Be ready for cold cuts in the morning. The hotel receptionist was very helpful and spoke English. The tram picks up and drops off right infront of the hotel. The receptionist will help you figure out the lines of transportation and you can buy tram tickets right from the hotel.

“Great staff, location, room”

The hotel itself is good, the rooms are clean and nice, and there's a lot to do in the area and a local tram. The real win here is the staff; all English speakers, some German, too, and totally friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They won me over!!

“Great for the price”

If you are looking for low cost conveniently located hotel, this is the one. Kind and friendly English speaking personnel deserves highest regards. Close to airport as well as short distance to historical center of Prague without paying premium price. Convenient parking on hotel premises, quiet place close to tourist attractions like Prague Castle, yet not close enough for overcrowded rush. Walking distance to new supermarket with fast food shops and supermarket. Room was quite large, clean with outside patio. Hotel restaurant serves reasonably priced mostly Czech cuisine in range $5-$8. My over all experience, for just a weekend stay, was more then I was expecting.

“Cost effective small hotel”

Cost effective small hotel in the outer part of of Prague, with free of charge secured parking place. The nearest tram station is pretty close, max. 100m. The castle (Hradzin) is approximately15 minutes by tram. WIFI is available on the ground floor (free).

“Great for the price”

The hotel met all of our expectations. Nice room, nice and helpful staff, nice price. Don't expect a really nice hotel since you aren't paying for one. Ups: English Speaking and helpful staff Close to Tram station Great breakfast included Free Parking Good Price You can purchase tram tickets at the hotel desk Downs: Moderate traffic noise Restaurant isn't actually open (except bar), but the staff recommended the restaurant in Hotel Alexander a short walk away and the food was amazing and a very good price A little smoky smelling in hallways (not in our room) Budget bedding (but in keeping with the price) Overall it's a nice little place about 20-30 minutes away from the city center by tram and a good price. We would suggest it to people on a budget who don't mind being outside of the city center.

“This size bathrooms should be banned”

Initially we were placed on 3rd floor. There is no elevator in the building and I had to carry all our heavy luggage myself through a narrow spiral staircase. Wi-Fi was free but it worked only on first (ground) floor. Half of the room was unusable because of sloping roof and one of the electric sockets was hanging from a wall. Tube TV back from 80s was not working (as later we found that a cable wire wasn't attached properly) and screen size was maybe 10". Next day we were ready to move out but after a complain they moved us to a 2nd floor where we found the same TV and same absolutely ridiculously sized bathroom with a sink smaller than average human face. Using a bathroom wasn't comfortable at all. At least parking was free and included breakfast was somewhat generous.

“Not impressed”

I booked this hotel for an overnight stay due to its proximity to the Ruzyne Airport. The hotel is quite close to the airport and it takes a 2min tram ride and a change to a bus (15min ride) to get to the airport. I was not impressed by the room, esp. cleanliness. Bathroom was bare-bones and again it could have been cleaner. We did have enough beds for the entire family (wife + 2 kids) and that was a plus. Staff was very courteous and were accommodating to our requests. I am giving it a high score on location and staff service but a low score to the condition of the room. PS - If your room is on the 2nd flr or 1st floor and you have luggage, beware. There is no lift and you have to carry it thru a narrow, spiral staircase.

“Budget price = budget faciities”

Since we were looking for a budget hotel, we found the Hotel U Hvezdy to have adequate facilities at a pretty good price. The desk staff had good English and moved us to a room with wifi after we asked if this were possible. The breakfast, which was included, was not bad, but we soon grew tired of the bread, sliced cheese, sliced meat (if there was any left), sweet buns, and tired-looking bowl of apples with the occasional nectarine. The coffee came from a push-button machine and the "juice" was more like well-flavoured water. The fact that the restaurant was closed for any other meals was disappointing as there were almost no other places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. The sloping roof in our room cut into the available space, and having only one hardback chair meant we had to sit or lie on our beds to watch the small TV. The tram on the same street as the hotel was a bonus although the trip to town was a good 20 to 25 minutes. Being able to buy our tram tickets from the front desk was another plus.

“more like a hostel than a hotel”

The staff at the desk rotated frequently. All were friendly and provided accurate transit info. The room is small, the bathroom even smaller. The bed was made daily, but the linens were not changed and the towel was not replaced at any time during a 3 night stay. The bed was very hard and the pillow very thin. The overall cleanliness, or lack thereof, is on par with lesser nice hostels I've stayed in. The lack of fresh linen also distances this place far from anything that should be called a hotel. The only outlet is in the opposite corner of the wall from where the desk is. The tiny TV must be unplugged if you want to charge your phone or use your laptop. Better bring a long cord. The wifi did work in the room (first floor) but was terribly slow, taking minutes to load a simple website or fetch email. It felt like dialup but higher latency. I ventured down to the restaurant the first evening to find it appeared deserted, not even any lights on. Clearly not the place to have dinner, better options are just down the street. The last night there, it was open and packed with seniors, who piled into a bus and left around midnight, but I didn't bother to check out the scene. Coming from town, the tram stop is a block and a half away. To go to town, the tram stop is directly in front of the building. So, it's very easy to walk out and go some place better. A few stops down the street is a nicer are with neighborhood restaurants, bars and markets. Restful sleep only when drunk.

“do not recommand”

To call this a hotel is a joke. It's more like a hostel, in a questionable neighborhood (good luck finding a bite to eat, especially at night) with hard as a rock beds and poor connection to the airport. U Hvezdy does not have a shuttle, they don't even offer wake up calls!!! The free wi fi is mostly in a designated area we were lucky enough to actually get it in the room (room 306). There are very narrow, winding stairs and NO ELEVATOR (this may be very important for some less mobile guests or even when traveling with larger luggage and/or small children ). Taxi to the airport was 360 crowns (after we've been told it is going to be around 200!). The only good thing we really appreciated and enjoyed here was the breakfast, it was really plentiful and a decent selection of hot and cold items. Not staying there again. In fact to sum up all our experiences in Prague we are not coming back to the city itself, it's overpriced and full of questionable services.
