Hotel U HvezdyPosted Aug 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
Stayed there before catching flight back home in US. Nice hotel and friendly staff. Close to Airport and tram lines to get into city for one last look around. Recommend it.

poor experiancePosted Jul 20, 2013
Cons: The staff
Location: Good. between airport and city
Emailed hotel about our arrival time, and asked hotel to reply, they could'nt be bothered. When we arrived at 12.15 am the man on reception was the rudest person i have ever met.

Easy access to tram/airport but ...Posted Jul 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
I stayed twice, once flying into Prague and several weeks later flying out. I mostly chose the hotel because of its access to the airport via bus and tram. My first room was tiny and located on the alley leading to the main street. A bus would sit outside the window on a regular basis which added to the street noise made for a loud room including a good part of the night. On my return trip I had a much nicer room with an outdoor patio and removed from the road noise. Not sure why the difference as I think I paid the same both time. The access was as advertised, however I was leaving at 4 a.m. on my exit and the clerk gave me the wrong busstop instructions resulting in a last-minute panic to find a cab to get me to the airport in the nick of time. So don't trust what they tell you and make sure you get the schedule on your own.

Great for the pricePosted Apr 22, 2013
Pros: Helpful staff and great price
The hotel met all of our expectations. Nice room, nice and helpful staff, nice price. Don't expect a really nice hotel since you aren't paying for one. Ups: English Speaking and helpful staff Close to Tram station Great breakfast included Free Parking Good Price You can purchase tram tickets at the hotel desk Downs: Moderate traffic noise Restaurant isn't actually open (except bar), but the staff recommended the restaurant in Hotel Alexander a short walk away and the food was amazing and a very good price A little smoky smelling in hallways (not in our room) Budget bedding (but in keeping with the price) Overall it's a nice little place about 20-30 minutes away from the city center by tram and a good price. We would suggest it to people on a budget who don't mind being outside of the city center.

Nice 25-minute tram ride (#22) to castle and PragaPosted Apr 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
Correct and helpful staff. One-minute walk to the inbound tram stop, one stop from the end of the line. (Get the 3-day tram card). It was a quiet old-style hotel with a generous, self-service full breakfast. First room smelled bad (something rotting in the carpet?) but they agreed to change our room without hesitation. Room was well-heated. Neighborhood felt safe although it was beyond the touristic stuff. Prague Castle was along the 22 tram route on the hotel side of the river.

Budget price = budget faciitiesPosted Oct 8, 2012
Pros: The price
Cons: The tiny rooms
Location: A bit far from downtown
Since we were looking for a budget hotel, we found the Hotel U Hvezdy to have adequate facilities at a pretty good price. The desk staff had good English and moved us to a room with wifi after we asked if this were possible. The breakfast, which was included, was not bad, but we soon grew tired of the bread, sliced cheese, sliced meat (if there was any left), sweet buns, and tired-looking bowl of apples with the occasional nectarine. The coffee came from a push-button machine and the "juice" was more like well-flavoured water. The fact that the restaurant was closed for any other meals was disappointing as there were almost no other places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. The sloping roof in our room cut into the available space, and having only one hardback chair meant we had to sit or lie on our beds to watch the small TV. The tram on the same street as the hotel was a bonus although the trip to town was a good 20 to 25 minutes. Being able to buy our tram tickets from the front desk was another plus.

Worst hotel in our 4 weeks holiday across EuropePosted Oct 1, 2012
Cons: Stained mattresses. stained walls and v.poor housekeeping and maintenance
Location: Drab although tram does run into centre
We had room 308 and shown through the breakfast room into another dark dim hallway and were pointed towards a very dark stairwell. On the first floor a sign indicated we needed to go up again. The first two stairs had large rips in the carpet which could be dangerous.Again very dark until you could find the light switch. Shower tray centre repaired with fibreglass, also had been re-sealed around edges many times and not clean. Bathroom mat stuck to floor which we hoped and prayed was because the floor had been wet when it was laid, but we have our doubts!Bed sheet had two holes in the center which could not have been missed. The other mattress had a nasty stain on the which looked like blood. The mattresses dipped into the middle due to age.One chair by the tv had the arm badly broken and the other chair at the side of the bed was v.dirty where someone had sat on it without clothes on!The door to the terrace had the seal round the lower half hanging off and the terrace itself was filthy. The garden table had an ashtray which was full and also held about 2" of rainwater. Door and window v.hard to close. Broken plastic chair left by wall.Over the railing into the terrace for the next room this was piled up with loose terracotta tiles.Breakfast juice watered down and the hot tray only had one candle lit instead of two! Spent 1 hour trying to find another hotel with no luck. Our room is one of pictures on site which does not at all represent what is there now! No restaurant avail.

Not fancy but very kind and helpful staffPosted Jul 23, 2012 on Hotels.com
We just needed a place to stay before our 8:25am flight back to the US. The rooms were clean and comfortable and perfect for what we needed. We got a great price on this hotel so I feel we got more than what we paid for. As far as transportation to the airport and to Prauge, the tram stop was just outside the hotel door. And the bus stop was just one stop away. Also there is a non tourist shopping center one tram stop away. Perfect for supplies. The staff was so sweet at the Hotel U Hvezdy. The staff woke us up at 5:30am and even pack us a breakfast for the trip home. Don't stay here if your a fancy snob kinda person.

Delightful, comfortable stay. Very close to the airport, which was our purpose. We did have to walk about 3/4 mi. for dinner, but that was good for us. Nice, early morning snack to get us on our way was offered. I felt the people working there were delightful but my husband had a different feeling for the early morning gentleman. He was Russian.....most willing to take my suitcase down the stairs, but refused to help my husband. Interesting.
