Location the only plusPosted Nov 5, 2013
Pros: The location - very convenient yet quiet.
Cons: Almost everything - first, cleaning!!!, also breakfast, TV , and the mattresses - unless you really like them soft.
Location: It is close on foot to the river, the museums, the Old Town, the Hrad, Vinohrady, and even the Strachov monastery. No need for public transport.
I understand that 3 stars is not the Ritz. But this hotel seems to be trying to save on everything, and that includes cleaning.I do not expect my towels or sheets to be changed every day in a 3 star hotel, but I would appreciate daily: a fresh (micro-)bar of soap, a supply of paper handkerchiefs (in the box that emptied on the second day), and above all - vacuum- cleaning the room. After the cleaning lady left - and she did visit every day - there were balls of dust in the corners, and as I had put a wet wine glass on the bed table on the first night, I found the stain was still there when we left 4 days later. Also, breakfast service was very disappointing - it is not a big hotel, but there was always something missing, and God knows the choice is not large. The reception boys and girls are nice and helpful, but that's about it. If you don't want to spend much, the location is may be worth it - it is really close to everything that matters, while the street is small and quiet.

Excellent hotelPosted Nov 2, 2013
Cons: Maybe a telephone system
We booked a twin room with my brother in the PurPur Hotel. The location is just perfect, not even 10 minutes walk from the Old Town Square. The room is fully equipped, perfect layout, nice bathroom, so I cannot tell anything bad about it. Breakfast was also very good, so I would definitaly stay at this hotel again. Prague is a city people cannot miss in their life!!

good location but walls too thin - too loud!!!!!!!Posted Sep 16, 2013
Pros: Location, room size was ok enough
Cons: Pillows, for god sake wash the pillows!
Location: Everything is 10-15 mins walk nearby
The hotel is in a very good location as its about 10 mins walk to all the main parts, but if you actually want to have a decent night's sleep, go elsewhere! I will tell you why - the room is ok, its a decent size, I went on 8th Sept so outside wasn't too cold but the room felt especially at night, like it was starting to get cold. I couldn't imagine how someone would cope in the winter. They didn't have any radiators as far as I could see. Also the pillows! wow as soon I as placed my head down i could smell something from the pillows, as if they hadn't been washed enough. It was enough to make me sleep without them for the two nights I was there. So far all I have mentioned was barely bearable, (I'm 30 years old teacher from Britain, so it's not as if I'm some snob). The worst part was the noise. My god, you can hear EVERYTHING!! and everyone is so loud they shout at each other and laugh at 4 in the morning on wards, I couldn't understand how rude everybody was (the other guests that is). If someone farts down at reception you can hear it, it's as if the walls were made of paper! I even heard them start to hoover downstairs early in the morning. I couldn't sleep at all and so it ruined my day! I cannot describe enough how loud everything is there. Please take note of this, I am not exaggerating. It takes a lot to put me off something so If I am saying this then I mean it. Receptionist was border line helpful, border line temperamental. Overall too pricey for experience.

Close to the ActionPosted Aug 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Our stay at the PurPur was definitely a positive experience. The room, location, and staff were all great. The only negatives were that it was near 100 degrees outside and our only way to beat the heat was a fan provided in the room. At least they tried. If you will be staying in Prague during the heat, I would NOT recommend this place. If it is anytime where the temperature is cool enough, I would never hesitate to stay here again. 15 minute walk max to all the great thing prague has to offer.

Great Location But Can't RecommendPosted Jul 18, 2013
Great location and, despite what others have posted, you will survive the night, but I can't recommend this hotel. As others have pointed out, there are drainage problems in the showers and both of the rooms I stayed in flooded. Laminate floors outside the bathroom have water damage so this is a recurring problem. I know it's hard to operate a hotel in an old building and the price was reasonable, but there are better options out there. There is no point comparing any four star hotels in Prague to ones in North America because the standard is different, but, that being said, this would be hard pressed to get two stars in North America.

not as good as the reviewsPosted Jul 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
I would not give a 4*, maybe 3... feels a little outdated. but it was ok for what i paid for. avoid the 1st floor, the noisiest and least private. the reception personnel, first day was great, the guy was really helpful and friendly. unfortunately it went downhill afterwards.

blood on the duvetPosted Jun 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
The staff is excellent, but there was blood on the duvet cover that wasn't from anyone in my room. That totally grossed me out as I'd been using that duvet for a couple of days when it slipped out of its cover. I took it down and complained and they replaced it immediately. But, it was still pretty disturbing. They don't do a good job of cleaning the rooms daily and you have to ask for things like soap or shampoo as they don't leave you multiples. Again, the staff is really nice and that is definitely the up side of this place.

I would not recommend this to anyonePosted Jun 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Unfortunately I had a very poor experience at this hotel. There were people partying all night long with loud music and the front desk didn't do anything. Their answer was: "we're sorry", it happens all the time here. The food was terrible!
