The valley lies along the River Cismon in the shadow of the Pale di San Martino pinnacles and includes part of the Paneveggio Nature Park. Fiera, though the smallest village, contains the highest concentration of shops and restaurants. The oldest village, Tonadico, is located at the foot of the Pietra Castle ruins. At the end of summer, the 6 villages celebrate with La Gran Festa del Desmontegar.
