waterfire night

Pros: the outside lounge was nice and the room was gorgeous
Cons: service from the staff and you could use a car service or easier use of local taxi's
Location: the hotel was perfectly located for our venue--Water fire in Providence
the Renaissance is a world class hotel that actually fell a little short in my expectations...although my girl was very pleased the overall experience would have been better with a little more "personalized" response from the staff--been around and know it was bust time but doesn't excuse not getting what was paid for and meeting expectations

Payment & Staffing

I was overcharged by about $200 for a standard room with a king size bed due to booking on Expedia. I paid $269 for the hotel and then the hotel staff tacked on a $100 deposit for incidentals upon departure. I was told this would come back to me in a week or so depending on my bank. I have not yet received these monies back. For a one night stay and a dinner for two I was charges $550 and was talked down to by the staff at check-in and check out.

Convenient location to get to I 95!

Pros: Comfy beds!
Location: Walk across river to Mills Tavern. Fabulous food!
Lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff. A bit far from all main attractions. Need a car/ taxi to get around, even if just a short drive.

Great hotel and location. Only complaint was the comfort of the bed. Hard, uncomfortable mattress. Otherwise excellent hotel/service.

Great stay!

We took our 10 years old daughter and my 21 years old niece, visited Providence for the first time, to see the city and the full lighting water fire...our room did not allow rollaway bed due to safety reason. The hotel staff was very understanding our situation and upgraded us for a two room suite for free!! The hotel is situated in the center of the city and next to state house. Beautiful place!

Short walk to mall, Waterplace Park, Amtrak statio

Location: Waterplace park, shopping
We spent a night here. Location of hotel is great, we walked to the mall, had dinner at the food court (there are plenty of better food options nearby too), then took a leisurely stroll along the river at the Waterplace park. Our room with two double beds was clean and spacious (big enough for my daughters to do cartwheels), the bathroom felt luxurious, the AC worked well. We arrived slightly early at a quarter to three, but the staff let us check in anyway. Hotel is close to the I-95 so even without GPS we could figure our way out of Providence and head home. Valet parking is available for 28 dollars, but this is what we would do if there's a next time: park at the mall until 5 P.M. or 6 P.M. for two dollars, then go for overnight parking at a cheap garage nearby for eight bucks.
