Disappointed!

Posted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: Staff was friendly.
Cons: Decor, rooms were small.
Location: Not really close to downtown Providence, which is where I needed to be.
This hotel was located off the beaten path. It is old and not up to my usual standards. I usually stay at Sheraton Suites, Hampton Inn, or Hyatt Place hotels when I travel to other states. The Wyndham was not worth the money.

Cons: Hairdryer should be added to the bathroom. One of the lamps was unplugged and it took us a while to figure out why it didn't turn on.
It was a nice hotel with a very comfortable bed.

Would not stay again

Posted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: Great coffee in the morning
Cons: Odor control
Location: Water fire
There was a very bad smell on the 6th floor that resembled bad body odor. Towels were missing in the bathroom at check in.

I do apologize that the towels were not in your room when you arrived. I hope they were brought right up after you let us know. I am not sure what the strange smell was however we did go up to the floor and the odor seems to be gone. Thank you for the review. We truly appreciate your feedback.

Just one night

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: The select comfort bed was the best I have ever had in a hotel.
Cons: There was a mysterious puddle of water in the bathroom, and the lock on the door was very hard to close and open (I could not do either).
Was fine - easy location and bed was wonderful! Recommended.

I enjoyed my stay at Wyndham Garden Hotel, Providence and found it convenient to visit Brown University.

The experience was terrible. Rooms were filthy and some noise (screeching noise ) bothered us the whole night and support staff did not do a thing about that. Will never go back there.

I am truly sorry that our housekeeping team fell short during your stay with us. I will be speaking with the team and will address these truly unacceptable cleanliness issues. I hope that you called the front desk and notified them of the noise complaints. We have a zero policy and do not tolerate noise of any nature. I hope that you will come and give us another chance. We are located in one of the finest areas of Providence and we have the best views of the harbor. Thank you for providing us this valuable input and we hope to see you again.

Significant problems need to be fixed.

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: General maintenance, dining room operation, cleaning, overall operation of the property.
Location: Brown and RISD are closeby.
The hotel is in generally run down condition, with stained carpeting, worn paint and wallpaper, and general signs of neglect and inadequate maintenance. The bed skirt was filthy, with dripping stains of various colors and textures on it. The mon-smoking room had a distinctive musty odor to it. Wallpaper was gouged and marked in both the hallways and the room. The GM told me that they are planning a major renovation, but this is not an excuse to provide sub-standard facilities at standard room rates. There are also problems with the operation of the hotel. We attempted to get dinner at about 8 PM on a Saturday evening in a 1/2 filled dining room, and after waiting 20 minutes without being acknowledged, we left. The location is good, quite close to Brown and RISD, but I recommend not staying there at least until the planned renovation is complete, and maybe not even then if the operational issues are not resolved.

Hotel decor is tired with rooms showing age. Situated next to a highway, constant traffic noise is disruptive.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey. The hotel is positioned between the highway and the harbor. It has many great views and a beautiful park, India Point located right in front of our building. Many guests enjoy sitting on our outside terrace overlooking the bay. Hopefully on your next trip to Providence, please request a harbor facing room. I know you will be amazed.

Please the next time you stay with us, ask for a harbor side room. They are very quiet and the have the best view of the harbor in town. During the day you can watch the Brown college crew team practice and at night the sights are also very nice. We hope you come back and get to experience of of these rooms.

Need to work on customer service.

Posted Aug 5, 2014
We arrived at the hotel 45 minutes after the 3:00 check in to be told our room was not ready. We were also told that they had no other rooms available and could not estimate what time our room would be ready. I would have been ok with the check in time if the man behind the counter had used a different approach, he basically said to bad and deal with it. Then we had to take cold showers in the morning because there was something wrong with the hot water! Not impressed at all.

We are truly sorry you needed to wait for your room to be ready. On sold out weekends it is very difficult at times to have all room types available right at 3pm. We will continue to try our best to accommodate everyone's needs. Thank you for taking the time to review our property.

I am so sorry that our hot water system failed on Sunday morning. I cant think of a worse time. We did have it repaired and it was up and running by noon. Again, terribly sorry but we hope that you give us another try. This was the first time that I know of that the hot water failed. Thank you
