“Really bad for the chain name”

We picked up this hotel and paid extra money just because of the name of camino real , but the condition of the hotel is not good , neither the service , rooms are in really bad condition. I got my cell phone stolen from the room . Would never stay there again. Mexico City

Area recommendations
I would have stayed at the NH is half the price , double value.

“I will come back, but...”

In general is a good hotel, very well located in the down town. But.. it is necessary more maintenance and change the bathroom instalations. There is a very bad odor that comes from the bathroom.

“Far below expectations for the brand.”

Great location; great Hotel name; great pictures on internet lead you to selection. Camino Real is a great name in Mexico. The hotel features two great colonial patios that are irrisistable when you dig into internet. Disappointing. Guest rooms are dark, small and poorly decorated and fitted, below the brand standards in other cities. Dark, poor isles lead you to the rooms. Small bathrooms. The facility great patios are frequently used for catering weddings and big events, usually at nights. The parties settings are placed before the events and are left after, so it feels like you are in a left-over location. Rooms`windows face the two patios, so loud music and party noise make it difficult to rest. Either it is used for parties or as a hotel; somebody has to decide.

Area recommendations
Definitely downtown is the best place to stay; any quiet hotel in the surroundings of the Cathedra. GREAT PLACE.
Must see
Capilla del Rosario. Small, golden-rich barroque chappel within a nearby Churck. Not to miss. Biblioteca Palafoxiana: Beautiful antique library. Main square. Beautiful tree-lined square around the great Cathedral. Surrounding blocks; colonial architecture on mansions, schools and government buildings. Puebla was the choice of the rich Spanish inhabitants of Nueva España when Mexico City`s floods pushed them away, so downtown presents beautiful wealthy mansions still beautifully preserved. Beautiful at night; quite vivid and safe.

“Comfortable stay in an incredibly beautiful location”

This is my third stay at El Camino Real. It is true that the rooms are in need of a facelift, but because of the location in the Centro Historico and the beauty of the converted monastery, it is easy for me to overlook that. The staff was efficient, helpful and friendly.

Area recommendations
The hotel is located in center of beautiful colonial city. Many museums and incredible churches and other places of interest are within easy walking distance.

WiFi is with a 3rd party and very expensive. The restroom smelled like sewage. Parking is a wopping $5.00 daily.

“Puebla Paradise”

While the decor of the rooms is dated and a little worn, the overall charm of the colonial building makes up for it. The staff was friendly, helpful and very polite. The Expedia price for the room was great and I never could have gotten such a large room with a view of the city for that price anywhere else. I needed a cable to connect to the internet, but the fee was reasonable. The neighborhood is the nicest in the Centro Historico and has easy access to the sights and many places to walk to for eating and entertainment.

“Puebla Hotel Real Bargain”

Stayed here in September 2009. Thanks to an e-mail coupon from Expedia.com I received 50% off the regular rate, so the room was a steal. That said we had to pay to use the coffee maker in the room. But I suspect the hotel was attempting to claw back a bit lost of the rate for the room. The room was small, but a very nice place to stay. Reasonable to good service. I would not hesitate to recommend this place, though look for bargain rates online.

Traveler's tip
Nearby is a unique bar serving Pasitas, this is quite a unusual place and worth a look. No food is served just tiny inexpensive drinks. That are quite special.

“Not the best in Puebla”

Our stay was horrible. Our room we booked wasn't what we received. The promised free breakfast was not free and we were charged for it. We ordered room service for two adults and two children. We ordered it two hours before we needed to leave for a function. They brought one adults meal and one of the childrens. We asked several times about the other two and kept getting, there coming. They came as we were leaving. We didn't eat any of the meals and went hungry for several hours because of their error. They charged us for all four meals even though they told us they wouldn't and we didn't even touch them. Their mini bar is pathetic and the tv's don't work in many of the rooms nor does the A/C. (We had several friends at the same hotel). We all were disappointed with the service, staff and rooms. Some of us had to move due to flooded rooms after the rain. It's a shame as this hotel has potential to be beautiful and a nice place. Too bad no one is there to make it such.

Traveler's tip
Carry hand sanitizer with alcohol in it. Don't drink the water or ice. Only bottled water. There are many things to see. Many small places to eat for what is equal to $2.00 US dollars and very good food. Taxi's can be bargained with. Don't just take the first rate, ask around, make a lower offer.
